Altitude folks, that's what will get you snow out of this storm. It's gonna be a rainer for most I'm afraid. Still, RDU never had much hope on this from the get go, so I'm not disappointed for mby. It's not like someone to the south/southeast of me is getting 10" on this one while I get next to nothing.

You or me either one. They'll argue with someone who obviously knows way more, they'll argue that a model doesn't show something with ANOTHER model, they'll whine because their area doesn't get talked about enough.

We've got mets arguing or disagreeing back and forth now, this storm is gonna be the death of the SE Forum!:gun_bandana:

It will be the death of folks who like to argue. I love it!! lol

The Euro has two more snow threats after this one- a light event in GA at about 120 hours, and another bigger storm at the end of the period with marginal temps. I think we will all be worn out after this winter, just from lack of sleep from model watching...

True that, my GF wants to kill me this winter....and I gotta talk her into letting me buy a 4x4 I've had my eye on. This is going to mean plenty of trips to the mall for this spring.

This is my 3rd year but I don't get on much during spring and summer, spend too much time fishing or golf!

Anyway looks to be a wild ride over the next 2 weeks, regardless of what happens tuesday/wed. A possible light smattering of snow friday and a shot of a major after that. Couldn't ask for a better winter in the SE imho!

Check back later or tomorrow to see the next madness and model depiction and temperature arguments and rip off warnings and bitchin and gripin!

I really wish it would snow so much i'd get tired of it, don't think that's possible, but i would get more done around the house after work!

This is my fourth year following Eastern and now American. I hope that all of the mets that frequent here know how appreciative some of us are for the time you put into teaching and explaining everything weather. I read much and post little for the simple fact that I have learned more than any textbook could teach. It is amazing to me that with the amount of knowledge some have, they have no problem sharing it. Try to find that in other specialties.

I do have a question that I cannot find the answer to. What is the difference between the meteorologist tag and the pro forecaster tag? Any help would be appreciated.

I hope this forum will track severe outbreaks in warm weather! (Of course, I don't know why I care, because I live in the screw zone for severe thunderstorms and will die of old age before a twister comes through here...)

Pro Met's are degrees mets, forecasters are people who aren't necessarily degreed but are paid to forecast

Feeling a little tension in the main thread

And it has been that way for several days, not sure what the deal is as we have never really had issues like this, even back at Eastern. If you look at the instigators though, most have joined within the past 30 days, and several I have noticed are just within the last 15 days. I doubt most of them were around at Eastern, and have likely found this place from other boards, of which the etiquette was different from here, and it shows. Hopefully staff gets a handle on this, because even with the Jan 10-11th storm, the main thread was almost unreadable at times and at a disservice for those who come here to read and learn, which is the overwhelming majority. :)
