SnowNiner
http://www.dnr.sc.go...b25_27_2004.php Thanks! I thought that was great storm. I'm anxiously looking for another one!! it's interesting that was a cold air damming situation. I wonder how strong and what position the High Pressure was in? Usually CADs don't work out unless it's REALLY strong in the piedmont. Must have been at least 1035-1040 I bet.
Weather Czar
I think this is a top 5 year for us on Cold. In over 100 years. We've been way, way below normal , on highs and lows. And very consistently. But you're right, no goose egg yet. And probabaly won't make that. Since Thanksgiving I have not had too many days above 50. In fact when it gets in the low to mid 40's here now it feels like a heat wave.

Jet Stream Rider
One would think with all the cold air we've had so far this winter that central NC would be able to support snow with this rather nice looking low that is progged to form and move up the se coast. But it just looks too warm for much of anything frozen, other that the possibility of wrap around. Its worth keeping an eye on though.

No doubt the cold has been noteworthy for its duration and consistency relative to average, but I am talking about the lack of shock cold values, ie, temps in the single digits or below zero. I think that it would be exciting to not only get consistently cold temperatures, but also some vodka cold shock values like the good old days when single digits and even below zero temps werent so difficult to score. feloniousq
Newsflash to posters: if you want bnmdjm to stop posting, stop responding to her. Seems to be a lot of internet forum newbies here that don't quite get it. Posting 15-20 reprimands of her after each of her posts is EXACTLY what she wants. If you disagree, fine. Do so over PM. Tired of 25% of the storm thread being bull ****. I know a mod can't be here all hours of the day but this has gotten completely out of hand. EmersonGA
No, it was my English-usage alarm. You should see me when a TV personality makes that mistake on the air. I break out in tumors on the spot. One time I heard a broadcaster repeatedly refer to George Custer as "custard" -- while giving viewers an on-camera tour of the site of Little Bighorn, no less! That experience nearly hospitalized me. Fortunately, a strong scotch and soda brought me around. I guess my post caused you some harm since I left the r out of your. I've got some moonshine I can send your way to correct any issues I may have caused.

Well those 1985 and 83 and 77 outbreaks don't occur but every so often. If NC got into single digits on a regular basis, it wouldn't be NC, it would be more like MN. Those outbreaks usually occur in Warm Winters, becuase once you use the motherlode of CaK. air, its hard to rebuild it again, and theres a big warm spell in between. I'm very impressed with the cold overall, but I guess for power bills and considering the hassle, I'd prefer it to be warmer overall and have the once in a while big cold hit. But I'm getting older and don't care that much for anything below moderate cold.

CaryWx
lol the most hated met in the SE right now may make fools of us all yet. I don't see that anyone 'hates' this person. I also see no 'fool making' either as I'm not sure anyone doubted the particular prediction per se. What did occur was a seeming intolerance on the posters part for others exploring potential outcomes. Then this poster apparently didn't favor the board environment even when given sound reasons to explain the reasoning for exploring the potential outcomes.
