dilly84
What is interesting is that the RUC does show a band through SW and Central Ohio overnight: http://ruc.noaa.gov/....//+radar+am+18 Yea. Im pretty much going to just watch the radar now. It hasnt started east yet, so it'll all depend on when it decides to start moving east. ILN issued a wwa for the 2 southern most counties in OH. ArmyGreens
From our AFD... FURTHER NORTH...THERE WILL LIKELY BE A SHARP CUTOFF TO HEAVIEST PRECIP WHERE THE ELEVATED BOUNDARY ENDS UP...WHICH RIGHT NOW APPEARS TO BE A LINE FROM CINCINNATI TO CHILLICOTHE. HOWEVER...CANT RULE OUT SOME LIGHT SNOW CREEPING AS FAR NORTH AS THE SOUTHERN MIAMI VALLEY AND CENTRAL OHIO...ESPECIALLY WITH INDICATIONS OF WEAK ELEVATED DEFORMATION DEVELOPING LATER TONIGHT ACROSS THIS AREA. HOWEVER...DRY LOW LEVEL AIRMASS WILL ACT AGAINST ANY ACCUMULATING SNOW IN THIS AREA. IT IS WORTH NOTHING THAT ANY NORTHWARD SHIFT TO THIS BOUNDARY WOULD NOT ONLY BRING ACCUMULATING SLEET/SNOW NORTH OF THE CURRENT ADVISORY...BUT WOULD ALSO BE INDICATIVE OF A STRONGER STORM SYSTEM AND THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVIER PRECIP AMOUNTS. THE 18Z NAM COMING IN IS HINTING AT JUST THIS POTENTIAL...WHICH WOULD RESULT IN POSSIBLE WARNING-CRITERIA ICE OR SNOW AMOUNTS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST. WILL NEED TO WAIT FOR OTHER MODELS TO COME IN...INCLUDING SHORT RANGE MODELS...BEFORE JUMPING ON THE NAM SOLUTION. RUC might be on to something
dilly84
Looks like snow is breaking out in Paducah, ukrocks what's it doing at your place? Man look at the banding appearing around Nashville. Such a shame lol

dilly84
Just turned to all snow! Let the fun begin! Probably those big wet flakes that plaster trees and everything. My favorite. Ill take heavy wet snow over fluffy any day. Edit: unless there is going to be wind then id want powdery fluff lol

vespasian70
Looking at the radar I can't see how central OH misses out on at least a 1"-2" snow. Ganahl (in a twitter he said he was "uneasy" about this storm) said snow s/e of I 71....hope he meant 71 running all the way up to Cleveland. lol

ukrocks
Been snowing really good for the past half hour but because temps are still above freezing it's only sticking cars and that junk. But I do imagine as the temperatures fall, the snow should start to make roads treacherous and start to pile up. At least I hope.

Too bad the back piece can't separate from the main low and come ne while the stuff in fl rides the coast lol. Wishful thinking I guess. If that stuff would just go ne wed be golden with those returns. It'd be at least a 6 incher. Shame.
ukrocks
Have a nice coat of snow on the grass. Still no snow sticking to the roads. I want the roads covered too so it looks like a winter wonderland again.

Im rooting for you guys uk....i know Kentucky has gotten the shaft pretty bad over the last few winters. You guys are way overdue for good ole fashioned bluegrass thump'n and it looks like it's finally here. Congrats As far as us up here...hmmmm. I admit if i was totally out of the loop on this storm and looked at the radar I'd have no doubt we were gonna get it. In fact i'd probably be wondering if we were going to get the wtod shaft. I'm not ready to call a good bust for as far north as i-70.... but i could see a big surprise for cincy, circleville, on east.

dilly84
where did you see that? You know folks, this is really the first storm that had a lot of trouble with mixing and such. Models did bad and I did bad with the storm. I think though we are on the right track now. However, we have two more months of winter and probably another 10-15 storms to forecast yet, so don't get discouraged. Just think of this, you are witnessing one of the most extremely cold winters in years. And there are some comments stating that the push from the nw is lagging which is why what is in KY hasnt started the shift east yet.

ukrocks
Imagine roads will start to get snow covered within the next 1-2 hours. Bare spots in my apt. complex parking lots starting to get covered as part of the side road. I'd say we have .50-.75 inches of snow right now on the grass. Good start so far!
