Does look borderline. Would probably be some rain to start at least. But this is the Central forum so I'm done analyzing their wx. :)

Yeah I agree, I could give a rat's you know what about rain or snow along the east coast.

As for this storm its a waste of energy and yet another fail in a line of fails this winter.

I agree. I was telling Buckeye that I cant remember seeing a winter where every decent shot we have at a big one is thwarted by some minor detail.

Winter for me thus far D-.,the cold gets an B+

Well see both of my locations are almost up to their seasonal averages. Murray only need 4 more inches to get too 11 inches for the season and Louisville only needs 7 inches. I have no doubt both places will get their averages. it just frustrating to see all this cold air go to waste. Ideally a 6+ inch event will make me happy. December 2004 was the last time I got a 6+ event. March 2008 I got dry slotted otherwise that would have been the one.

Honestly very few folks ever had a chance at all except a few folks in PA and far eastern OH as well as parts of KY. Otherwise--very few had a chance with this. I don't know where this whole idea that a storm was going to crawl straight N up the apps really ever came from. It would have been nearly impossible for that--and is still nearly impossible. I think sometimes folks get too excited for nothing then become too angry/distraught when that doesn't happen.

1. I don't *think* anyone up this way ( In Michigan ) was thinking this was a threat for them? Atleast for a few days now.

2. Why did you not make such a call days ago if such confidence was there about what this system would or would not do? Believe me people will listen if you had said something and explained why you had thought this or that days ago. :)

Its funny how grading is all relative to the grader. Winter so far for me is at an A-. Constant snowcover, cold, and snowflakes are perfect in my book, just need a big storm. If we keep nickel/diming right along and winter continues to stay cold and white, but with no storm greater than the 6.3" Dec 12th storm, it will be an A-. If we get a 8"+ storm its an A, a 10"+ storm and A+, and a 15"+ storm an A+++.

This storm, fwiw, if it does track and graze the coast or whatever, looks like ptype issues anyway. Not that they wont get accum snow, but this is certainly not a cold snowstorm for them.

In my book thats a called a DRY WINTER. Once again snow cover is just snow cover, how is that fun? I like extremes, and could care less for this PLN COLD because its sickening. Even if we have over 20" of snowfall thus far in Detroit, to tell you the truth I barely noticed that we even had that much. And looks like nyc is jackpot again, which is no surprise the way this winter has been, tracks, etc.. repeat.

Im not liking this dry pattern coming up. Should be another uneventfull start to Feburary. Im thinking March might go in like a lion and leave like one. March is are month.

To me, that first 70+ degree sunny day in March when you can 'smell' spring is more exciting than any March snowfall under 6". Only good snow in March is a blockbuster, everything else is a slushy muddy reminder that warmth and severe season is still not quite here.

Im the biggest snow weenie in the world during Dec, Jan, Feb....when March comes I become a torch weenie very quickly

I agree, I hate snow storms late in the season, especially APRIL!

I think March snowstorms is still good inside March 20th...after that its pretty much useless and just inflates your seasonal snow totals.

That is FINE....thats why I said it all relative to the grader. I like the season of WINTER, while you CLEARLY like snowstorms and thats it. As I said in another thread, give me a winter like 2001-02 with its several big snowstorms but very warm weather and huge bare periods, and I can tell you the grade would be a hell of a lot lower than 2010-11 FOR ME. NYC has been in the jackpot once this winter, but yes they have had about 3 good snowstorms (20.0", 9.1", 4.2"...vs DTWs two big ones of 6.3", 5.3"). Youd be a much better fit living there than here with your views on winter and storms, though i do warn you, they get many winters with very little snow. You like exciting, well good luck going through weeks at a stretch without a single snowflake or raindrop, as happens frequently there.

Yeah you guys are just different. Ajdos likes extreme weather. Loves really hot summers and monster snowstorms. While you just like all 4 seasons in Michigan.

But they can still be exciting. Memorable post-March 20 snowstorms here since the mid-90s:

March 20, 1996

March 25/26, 2002

April 7, 2003

March 21/22, 2008

March 27/28, 2008

April 5/6, 2009

Whoever would not be interested in that i really don't know what to say. I certainly would not pass it up granted it was early April. Oh hell no.
