dendrite
I just went out and it is gushing FZRA right now...a little bit of PL mixed in too. I like how I randomly interchange METAR code and SA code sometimes. A quick jump to 28.9F

vttaconics
I'm in awe at how badly this thing was modeled. Precip already filling back in just to my west. dendrite
Correct me if I am incorrect, but sleet accumulation counts as snow accumulation, right? How I've always done it. Yes...snow and sleet get reported together as frozen precipitation.

dendrite
Maybe some sleet all of the way to the Canadian border in parts of NNE? It looks like the dryslot is making quite the push northward right now. Hopefully we can have a dynamic finish to this event. Do you think we could see some TS toward our way Mike? MainePhotog
Back to ZR. Winds turned NE/NNE and are picking up. I wonder if this brings in cooler temps or not. Holding steady at 31.1°F
wxeyeNH
28.3F light freezing drizzle. Area of intensifying precip in Conn and Western MA heading this way. Should get here in a couple of hours. Whats it going to be? Will the heights be crashing Southeastward to give us a plaster of snow or more mixed/ freezing rain. Next couple of hour look interesting for C NH. powderfreak
8pm observations... 4.5" of new snow in 3 hours. Precipitation lightened up there around 8pm (when radar image is from) for 20 minutes resulting in some snow grains, sleet, and freezing mist/drizzle. I'm pretty sure we just lost our snow growth as we haven't seen true freezing rain.... its all been frozen except for some very, very small droplets that seem to just hang in the air like a mist. Precipitation has become more steady again and we are starting to see more flake-like structure take place. I bet everything behind that squall line in NY, which is now nearing the VT/NY border, falls as snow. Hopefully we can tack on another 4" or so... I figured this event to be 8" but didn't realize how quickly it would come on. That 3 hour burst definitely caught the "apres-ski" crowd with their pants down here in Stowe. Saturday night, mass exodus from the ski resort down the road to the bars, restaurants, and lodges, and average snowfall rates of 1.5" over 3 hours means lots of tow trucks pulling people out of snowbanks. CardinalWinds
All snow here as of 8:15pm. Though it has pretty much stopped for the time being, there is some very light rain falling. Looks like I'm on the extreme northern edge of the dry slot but radar shows it's filling in quickly just to my west. Four inches so far. I have no idea how to figure out water equivalent but this is high water content snow. I can actually make a somewhat decent snowball. First time this winter it hasn't been dry powder. Ah, just checked one more time before posting, but there are snowflakes resuming. 27 degrees.

dendrite
Not much on radar, but we're getting a steady low-topped -FZRA right now. 30.0F...I'll be afraid of losing power if the glazing keeps up for a couple more hours and then we get an inch of snow on top of everything. At least tomorrow will melt everything off of the trees by late morning.

PS: "tastings" in N. Troy is worth the time and money if anyone is up this way looking for a great meal. I think you guys will jackpot... you look to be right in the pivot spot of the deformation band. Areas that I think will max out here are Orleans-Newport-Montgomery Center-Swanton & St Albans... with Johnson to Lowell on the southern side of this jackpot zone. I bet this area comes in with 10-12" while we end up with around 8". The wild card right now is Burlington/BTV and the heavily populated (relatively) western Chittenden County. They likely haven't mixed at all being 20 miles west of me, and the high-res models are indicating a good period of Champlain Valley convergence on the eastern/Vermont side of Lake Champlain as winds turn NNW. This is climatologically normal for the area as low level winds funnel down the valley while upsloping against the VT side of the lake; it is usually high ratio snowfall so I could see the eastern Champlain Valley making out just as well as the mountainous areas in this storm.
