Overnight lows thru 7AM... bold values are the coldest of the season thus far (including ties)... blue ones are as cold or colder than all last winter (which was a ridiculously mild winter when it came to absolute lows):

Really kind of astonishing...and frankly disturbing for someone who dislikes distorted climate records...LGA temp departure from normal for month is -0.1 through the 22nd.

Honestly, someone should tell the NWS to not count that as a reliable climate station. Its beyond absurd...and we all know it

Of course...thats assuming if your looking for actual facts and not trying to support a certain hypothesis whistle.gif

I still find it hard to believe that thermometer at the Somerville airport. Apparently it got down to -9 and yet my weather station only a few miles away from it only got down to 1. Whatever, either way it certainly was a bitterly cold night and tonight looks to be even colder! :shiver: I'm hoping my weather station can make it into the negatives; that hasn't happened since January of 2004 I believe.

8am temp at Danbury was -7F! very impressive!

low was -8F and I'm betting we have a very good chance of falling below -10F tonight.

Im still doubting that official reading of -9 in Somerville that thing needs to be checked. I was 0 here. If its in Bedminster that is not Somerville and they should change that location

First off, I explained that it always runs cold and makes sense given places off to the NW got even colder (-15 at Sussex).

Second, airport locations are usually named for the nearest central town/city. Trenton Airport isn't in Trenton, its in Ewing. Atlantic City Airport is in Pomona. Need I go on?

You're inexperienced with extreme radiational cooling. Forget the west, when I lived in State College I once drove two blocks and saw the temperature dive 6 degrees. Another 2 blocks and it was back to where I started.
