Despite the solid penetration of warmer air to the NW, the radar refuses to cooperate. The echoes really need to start turning more N to get a big hit. They are racing ENE toward SE MA. The RUC seems to be correct on the sfc low placement and the ptype issues in NJ and near PHL, but the precip is wanting to agree with the NAM which is all that matters for us.

Still have a couple hours though to see some improvement and some blossoming of the echoes to the NW. Latest RUC yet again still wants to cream central and E SNE around 12-15z.

4am overcast in Boston... certainly a later onset than forecasted.

Echoes south of LI look on track to target southeast Mass / Cape.

RUC 8UTC brings best stuff into eastern 1/2 Mass between 9-11am

Any obs from Hartford, looks like a nice band overhead...?

Not HFD but NE CT it's coming down nicely. Reports of 2-3 inches already around the state

I was just gonna ask you if you thought SE Mass would change over..They almost have to as far NW as this thing is tracking right?

Yes I think they changeover...but just not sure where...I think the Cape changes (sorry Phil :( )...but it may creep a little further NW than that by 10-15 miles.

We'll see. Its pretty weird tracking this. The NAM wants to be cold, but it clearly was wrong in NJ where all the mixing and rain reports came in E of PHL where the NAM said snow. But yet the precip wants to target SE MA like the NAM.

But we're starting to finally get a little northward nudge the last couple frames on radar...so maybe it will begin to intensify in the western portions of the precip shield. There is def bright banding SE of LI.

If you loop OKX radar you can see a definite push to the N on the last few frames.

What kind of intensity do you have up there? It looks like you're at least getting into some of this moderate stuff we have

Snow growth has gotten a lot better here in the past few minutes...or maybe longer. 15 min ago I looked out and it wasn't that good but I just looked out again now and its much better. Going out for a quick check.

Probably a half inch here...hopefully this better growth can push us to an inch fairly quickly.
