Turtle
Hello folks! Want to thank you all for your great reports. Much appreciated. You may notice that these reports did make it into the PNS from BOX, but attributed to "ham radio." It seems that some folks on ham radio want to make absolutely sure your reports get out there, even though they don't know for sure if any of you are trained spotters. Our office does prefer to use trained spotter reports. Knowing that you guys know what you're doing, we at the NWS like to be sure that you've been through our spotter training which does include a section on how to measure snow. However, you may have noticed that we have started to use some "general public" reports in our PNS. We have a new program that takes spotter reports coming in directly off our website and puts them into a program that we use to weed through them. In this event alone, we received over 340 reports!! It's tough for us to weed through them, but we do our best to do so. So, we do include those general public reports that appear to be representative with other trained spotter reports in their areas. So, if you want to take credit for YOUR report, you can send it directly to our web spotter website: http://www.erh.noaa....reportdisc.html You do have to read through a disclaimer section and accept it, then you get into the form to fill out. Just be sure to select "general public" (unless you do have a spotter number, that is, then select "trained spotter" and enter your spotter number) and enter your snowfall data. This is for those of you in WFO BOX County Warning Area. Thanks again! --Turtle
