This is worth scrolling through... widespread -20F to -30F cold last night in BTV's county warning area.

Looks like Saranac Lake ASOS gets to take the title at -37F this morning.

I went to Wildcat one morning when it was -11F at the base and -20F at the summit with about a 15-20 mph wind. I arrived at 9 and had the mountain to myself till after noontime. Of course I was making one run, hitting the lodge for coffee/tea/hot chocolate, make another run - stand in front of the fire... etc.

When the snow is good, skiiers can be masochistic. Back when Sugarbush North was still Glen Ellen, I skiied on a late January day with max of about zero and winds G50 on the upper mt, 30s at the lodge, -SN all day. Never tried the main lift, a 15-min ride (all non-detachable doubles in those days) but 5 minutes got one 500' vertical on the shorter lift. Each time I reached the top that aft, I said, "Last run, can't stand any more." Each time I got to the bottom doing turns had warmed me up sufficiently to climb aboard once more, until about 4 PM. Young and foolish. (Not young any more.)
