Voyager.. I'm sorry if it bothered you.. but think of it this way. This pattern is abnormal. I can remember many times in the 90s where it seemed like you folks up there were getting a foot and we were getting the slop down here. I am just in awe of this. Probably after this breaks it will be decades before something like this is ever seen again.

There is PLENTY of winter left.. in fact 50+ days of it. And just cause its March doesn't mean crap. Blizzard of 1993. Nuff said.

In the 90's I lived in Bethlehem so I got that slop right along with you.

I'm a Lehigh Valley native who now lives up here. I can remember those times as well. Standard weather forecasts always included the words "more north and west". It's amazing how times have changed.

Hey guys, nice event here in Palmer township. Kids all had off and now there is a threat for mid week. But first, any idea about the systems that come through in the next two days? Seems like maybe 1-2 inches?

:snowman: Here's to hoping that everyone gets in on the action next week.:drunk:

As long as you guys include me. I'm a misplaced Lehigh Valley native living up here in Hicksville USA. I hate it here and would move back in a heartbeat.

And I'll try not to complain so much...

You're fine, man. And we all feel for you down this way.

Almost ran out of place to pile the snow today. Took 5 hours to shovel my driveway and sidewalks. I am in need of a snow blower; my back tells me to get one now. Anyone have any ideas?

BTW, I saw the NWS report of 9" in Easton, but here in Palmer (Woodridge Falls) the 2-part storm totaled a minimum of 12" in my neighborhood at least.

I use a quad to clear my driveway; but like you running out of room. Thinking about getting a snowthrower, I'm looking at this one: Troy-Bilt 208cc Dual-Stage 26" Gas Snow Blower

You guys wanna do LV only? Sounds good to me cause we got plenty of members to report if thats the case. Lets do it

I say keep it as is. I think it might be difficult to define the LV anyway. I am up in the Slate Belt, and, technically, most of our waters flow directly to the Delaware and were not really part of the LV drainage. I say keep it open. This subforum got off to a great start and we've now got some good mojo going on anyway. Who knows, maybe someday we'll even get pinnage.

Nothing says "Great Winter", like piles. Keep shovelin' bro. There are only so many of us left. (and when the thaw comes, you'll have snow around a bit longer than the snowblower crew)

You know I generally do not mind it. The most difficult thing for me is that my house is situated on a hill, so the sidewalks and yard are sloped. And the driveway is the steepest in the neighborhood. So building the piles eventually gets difficult to add to without the snow tumbling back down from where it came from. I am 6'4" too, so I can toss the snow pretty far. Also, the driveway itself was not bad. The worse part was right by the street at the end of the driveway and the sidewalks where the plows shot all the iceberg snow. Damn, was that a work out. Soreness will ensue tomorrow.

But like you say, my glaciers will last longer than the blower piles. But man it take a lot of time. I have a feeling we will be adding a significant amount to these piles one week from today or less.

And just to keep these past two winters grounded, as in outside of the norms, I have lived in the northeast for about 8 years, and these are the only 2 years I recall being even close, albeit greater, in total snowfall than the Poconos. The Poconos elevations heavily favor them to more marginal situations, reforming Miller B's. etc. I recall many times a few winters ago where places in the Poconos got hammered with 2 feet when the LV got 6 inches of sleet. The Poconos snow chances last easily into April as well. Yes it can be frustrating for now, but in the long run, the law of averages wins out.
