Looking at the radar, I just don't see how that slug of precip in WV completely misses northern areas later this evening.

You will hear a giant sucking sound as that shield collapses to the east later on...:P:lol:

Seriously, so far it looks good as of 2:30PM. The first batch gave me a half inch. One thing I've noticed is it got windier and just FEELS colder event though my temp stands at 33.

NWS bing lowered our totals here from 1-3 to 1-2 fwiw.

Feels balmy outside considering its 33 degrees.

I do have to say the radar looks juicy but I know the nw edge will begin to collapses and areas from chester county to philly to trenton, quakertown, princeton, flemington and N and E will be in one amazing set up come 5-10pm...

But really, hasn't the Blue Mtn acted as a natural boundary of sorts in a lot of weather events...

Working at my old tv station we had a perfect view of the Blue Mountain and there's a big difference on either side of the Lehigh Tunnel...usually though it plays with severe weather season in the summertime...storms will ride just north or just south of the mountain and follow the path...With systems this big the effects are less noticable.

up to 3 in N.Berks. It is coming down pretty heavy now

Roads aren't bad at all, just wet with slush spots...way to go penndotguythumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I think we score tonight...another 5-7"

The current radar trends suggest reaching up to the Blue ridge at least

We are in a lull right now Im actually on my lunch/dinner now, Im down here near 222 this go around from the mushroom houses to broadcasting near PSU. should be a fun night ahead

It does on occasion, but many times in the past is was the dividing line between snow to the north and rain/mix in the Valley. At least it was that way when I grew up in Bethlehem.

any chance we cash in on those bands on the VA/MD border?

I think the NW edge will set up somewhere between Blue Mountain and I-78...similar to but not as extreme as the HRRR, showing 1" over northern Lehigh and 10" over southern Lehigh. In reality I think it'll be more like 3" north and 8" south.

It's probably my untrained eyes but the currect radar for the east looks like the eastern half of PA from south to north might get decent snows into tonight. Or,,,,,,,,, is that whole precip area going to transfer to the coast and tighten up? Right now we have about 2" up here in the southern Poconos.

D

This...the back edge is already starting to swing through western PA--the heavier echoes moving due north out of VA will continue to collapse as they race north and get transferred to the coastal. The northern fringe will continue to erode away so for all of us in my neck of the woods who thinks we are about to have a few inch hit out of this, its very deceiving. Convective bands will set up for a few hours over the Delaware Valley--folks in Delaware Water Gap and south along the river will cash in. You should get 3-4 inches out of it. Places north and west again will probably see flurries at best. Imagine a skater pulling their arms in during a twist--she spins faster, but the extent of her body does not reach as far outward.
