PSUBlizzicane2007
It's really pounding here in downtown Louisville now... though, looking at the LMK radar, I'm VERY intrigued by the heavier band off to the west as well as the increasing local echos. Yea the odd part is it is nestled in a small town with a population of only around 1900 people. But it is definitely a nice area. Anyways back to the snow, lt to mod snow here, 1/2" so far with a lot of time left, hoping to get some heavy bands through here in a bit. Pointless pixie dust now, takes 4hrs to get an inch with this fine crap lol.. give me some dendrites.

wxdudemike
About an inch at OSU. Coming down pretty good, but still fairly fine snow. 850 temps are down to -8C so seems like we should be getting bigger flakes soon as the cold air continues to push in... wxdudemike
Arctic boundary is starting to move in which will increase flake size. Latest RUC run looks amazing keeping the heavy stuff through at least 9pm. Also shows the DGZ from 800mb to nearly 550mb by 6pm!

Chicago WX
Estimating between 1.5 and 2 here. Light snow continues. I concur with that estimate. I just was out for a late lunch and the roads are surprisingly dicey for a realtively minor event.
PSUBlizzicane2007
We are definitely in moderate, though it looks like we may teeter on heavy soon if the huge band ever gets out of Indiana.

TheWeatherPimp
Huge different across our county with areas in the Northern portion of the county reporting 2 inches, while the Southern portions already have between 3.5 and 4 inches.

titleist_03
Snow has finally tapered off to flurries 20 miles ENE of downtown STL. An even 12 inches measured! Peaked at 2.25in/hr between 1-2AM. Averaged 1.44in/hr between 9pm-3am.
Chicago WX
It's never surprising to have dicey roads around here. lol, true. I guess I'm just surprsied that it's been a mainly daytime event and not really "heavy" rate snow. Add in all the salt and stuff that's been dumped on the roads all winter. And can't forget about that sun angle...

Obviously it's modulated by temps and snowfall rate, but I usually start to notice it at the tail end of January.
