Loving the band I am in in Pike Creek, DE. HOWEVER I am crossing my fingers that this doesn't transition over to mix/rain. The moderate to heavy snow continues -- but I have to wonder if those 30+ dbZ echoes coming in from the Baltimore area are sleet....

it most likely wouldnt be sleet, you would go to rain. The problem area is 925mb...to close to the surface for sleet.

Just woke up from a 2 hour snooze. The radar filled in nicely as of 6z just like the models said would happen.......easily moderate snow falling outside, probably somewhere between 1/3-1/2 mile visibility.

Hi - temp at the PTW airport is reading 34. Could that be right? Because the snow is sticking pretty well.

Huge glob of sleet just blew up over Cumberland and Salem counties in NJ...headed ENE...

That's probably rain/snow mix or just rain. The reason sleet shows up so well is because of how its formed... by partially melting snowflakes. In this case the same phenomenon will just get you a rain/snow mix or plain rain.

Snow and a few raindrops mixed in West Deptford NJ...in a valley between heavier echoes right now though

Believe it or not, there is frozen stuff falling from the sky with a surface temp of 38 degrees. It isn't sleet but it isn't rain either.

That's not that unusual. It can be snowing/sleeting with surface temps in the upper 30's. I once witnessed (and this is no exaggeration) snow falling with a surface temp of 50 back in March of 2008!

Light snow here in New Brunswick; about a dusting so far.
