Calm down, if anything, a jog south is good for precip, and we all know those unisys maps are weenie fodder, pure and simple

My point is this is excellent for us....and it was a VERY ACCURATE and USEFULL TOOL with the last coastal snow event. This would give the low more time to wind up an intensify.

that band is really strengthening over Elkton, MD. Unless it's sleet. Any obs from down there?

Meanwhile, 31.8°/24 here.

I am not in Elkton, but not far from it. I live about 10 mins north of Newark, DE in the Pike Creek area, and I can confirm it is definitely SNOW not sleet.

Coming down at a moderate rate here now and the driveway is coated.

your obs are going to be important to me, cause most of the 0z models have you changing over as the 925mb 0 line pushes north of you.

I'll be going to bed in a little while but for as long as I am up I will provide an update on the p-type/intensity. FWIW, a friend of mine in the Middletown, DE area is reporting a rain/snow mix at this moment.

ray, for tonights snow is it ok just to collect it in the cocorahs gauge? Or should i do the core from the snowboard?

Well, like Mat said, to be sure its good to do both. That being said, if what you melt from the CoCoRaHS gauge looks reasonable, it probably is. It depends on exposure too... my parents yard is sheltered enough such that they will rarely have concerns about snow missing the gauge, but an open and exposed gauge will have big issues if there is wind.

makes sense, the latest spc meso surface map has the 0 925mb line right along new castle/kent co border

Not sure if posted yet but from SPC meso discussion

BANDS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVERNIGHT ALONG THE I-84/95 CORRIDORS FROM ERN PA INTO MA. SNOWFALL RATES FROM 1 TO 2 IN/HR SHOULD OCCUR.

radar looks impressive already. went from weak looking to very robust in just a couple of hours. bring it on!
