nzucker
nice west based block trying to develop on the euro days 9-10 Looks like the pattern you described with a Pacific ridge retrograding towards a -NAO block. The -EPO carves out the west-based block even with a PV over Greenland. Didn't you mention this?

nzucker
i don't think i did? Im not sure, did you lol? I thought you were talking about some connection between the PNA and Baffin Island ridging, and asking whether it could happen...not sure though, been busy times here NAM looks a bit stronger at the surface and H5 early on.. nzucker
ahhh yes idid, that was in the medium range thread. I think i asked adam. What do you think of the 6z NAM so far? Storm looks juicier, no? Looks as if it's digging the H5 energy more in the Southwest on the 6z at 24 than the 0z at 30: New: Old:
earthlight
NAM seems to be more amplified with the southern stream..and further south with the northern stream feature through 30 hrs
CooL
Thru hr 30 it looks like the northern stream is a bit more agressive than 00z The whole thing looks better phased, sharper trough, heigher heights, looking good imo
tombo82685
What do you think of the 6z NAM so far? Storm looks juicier, no? basically what john said, looks more amped with the trof, more ridging on the ec.

tombo82685
does it look like its trying to hang back some energy this run with the southern stream?
earthlight
Through 36 hours the entire height field is tightened up and the northern stream is way more aggressive. I think it's safe to say this run is going to develop the surface low faster than the 00z run.
nzucker
At the attachment file names LOL I wondered if anyone was gonna see that. Just took the dog for a long walk in the snowy woods so you know how that goes...
tombo82685
its a good bit more amplified, also good amt of hgr hgts along the east coast.
earthlight
does it look like its trying to hang back some energy this run with the southern stream? A glance at the H5 wind barbs suggests the majority of the shortwave should make it into the phase
earthlight
Heights on the east coast are actually dramatically amplified compared to the 00z run..owing to the agressive northern stream and more amplified southern stream trough and quicker shortwave phasing. nzucker
its a good bit more amplified, also good amt of hgr hgts along the east coast. Pac ridge is way more amplified too, the 582dm contour is further north and you can see another contour under the ridge.
earthlight
The main difference between this run and the 18z run which brought an amplified solution is that the southern stream feature is further east, and slower to phase because of that. So unless the northern stream feature really catches up fast...it's going to be tough to wrap this up like the previous runs.
earthlight
The entire progression of the upper air pattern is really beautiful watch as the phase transpires on this run..through 42 hours.

earthlight
Awesome signature at 45 hours..going to be close though as the phase occurs a bit later than the 18z and 12z runs.
