Rest Of Today...Snow...rain and freezing rain...then snow and freezing rain this afternoon. Patchy fog and dense freezing fog. Patchy freezing fog this afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times. Visibility one quarter mile or less at times. Snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. Cold with highs in the mid 20s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.

Tonight...Cloudy. Freezing rain with possible rain and sleet likely in the evening...then a chance of rain and freezing rain after midnight. Patchy fog and freezing fog in the evening. Total sleet accumulation of 8 to 12 inches. Ice accumulation around a tenth of an inch. Not as cool with lows in the mid 20s. The term dry slot is overused IMO. When it's used some people confuse it with the synoptic scale feature in a storm. The current situation on radar over CT and W MA is a smaller scale dry intrusion, which will just be an extended lull in the action. This is confirmed by one quick look at the radar to the south and at WV imagery.

As far as whether or not this is a dry slot the precip right now is just rather bandy. However, it should really being to fill in much more as time goes on as we start getting some better lift to work into the area and some better moisture convergence. Great deal of WAA going on aloft should help with getting some positive UVV's to work into the region.

Sleet line just refuses to move north, fine with me. 100% snow, 1/2 vis. 6.1" as of 11:25 am.

thumbsupsmileyanim.gifSnowman.gif Snowing heavily here, roads and sidewalks to class are a mess, cars sliding everywhere. The dispatch center for an EMT company is next door and they've been flowing out with lights and sirens on all day so far.
