I'm locked in for 3-6"...works for me. Looks like another snow day in CT rolleyes.gif schools will be in session until July

Yeap, about 2-5 for me is a lock. Given that this is a Friday the school snow day is a lock, too. Just enough to lighten this melted brown mess up for us.

All guidance at 12z is going for mainly an advisory event in the 3-6" range with maybe the exception of the Canadian models which would probably be a low end warning snow for eastern areas.

GFS ensembles might support a bit more robust solution as well. But the upper air trend at 12z is definitely a limiting factor for anything bigger than a high end advisory or low end warning.

Hey where is Peachham? VT might be a little too far NW this time.

Peacham is in the NEK about 10 mile SW of ST. J. I assume we will be on the fringe of this. Unless the great NW model migration takes place I would be pleased/surprised by more than an inch or two from this.

I like your quote from "Winter Song". An excellent unreleased Springsteen song.

Lundy's column today AWT

I have little to debate on the storm, though I remain concerned there will be locally higher amounts in the core of the snow belt, including portions of Missouri eastward into southwestern Pennsylvania. Another area that could get more than model printouts would lead you to believe would be Long Island as well as southern and eastern New England as the storm deepens rapidly tomorrow night and Friday morning.

Might want to text him and tell him to not single out just the southern and eastern folks....

RH panels indicate this storm could be out of here pretty quickly Friday morning. I don't have QPF fields to see, but it looks like based on the 12z EC, snow could be over in CT by 15z?

Yeah its probably out of there before 18z, perhaps just a bit after 12z in SW CT. Its a quick mover with no capture taking place by the upper levels.

Clinton Public schools...holiday Monday. Closed due to weather Tuesday. Full-day Wednesday. 1/2 day Thursday for a "professional" day. Likely closed Friday. Day and a half of school this week. Ridiculous. A year ago I could've cared less...amazing how that changes once your child enters Kindergarten.

Still hoping for a slight trend at 0z. Right now only confident for the low end in coastal areas...say 3-4". Would like a smidge more QPF to be more comfortable with widespread 6" amounts. Inland places should be better off with better ratios.

clinton will close for a few inches of pixie dust blown off the road by cars? I think they will have a delay, this snow will be long gone by lunch time and should be very, very easy to remove.

here's the thing:

school boards will see an accumulation of snow at 5-6am, with steady snow still falling and probably just call the day.

The entire state will close schools again..Timing wise it's perfect to close. Starts a few hrs before morning rush and ends early afternoon

nah, I doubt it, here in Fairfield exams are on Friday, already pushed back, this is going to be about a low impact storm as possible.

Nah, it's an easy opportunity for another long weekend. Mathias is right - schools will close Friday. In fairness, snow could linger in central and eastern CT through the morning. In western CT I wouldn't be surprised to see the snow stop before the morning commute as this is probably a 6-8 hour shot of mostly light snow that comes in before midnight along the NY border. I think a general 2-4 inches through CT is a good call. If it looks better tomorrow you can always tick up to the next category of 3-6.

If we get 2-4 in the west and the snow is over before the morning commute they will have delayed openings. Our district has already used up its two freebies, now they are cutting into vacation time, and after last years wind storm where some sw ct schools were in session until July they will be much more apt not to pull the trigger.

Its embarassing to get 2-4 be done by commute and be closed for the day.

Although my wife would kill me for saying this, she is a private school teacher and does not have to make days up LOL
