clskinsfan
I don't know anything about DC TV Weathercasters, but how many are actually real meteorologists with a degree in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology? And no, an AMS seal means nothing. Bob Ryan and Doug Hill both have masters in Atmospheric Science. Sue Palka (NWA). Topper Shutt, I dont know. Doug Kammerer (NWA). Edit: Doug Hill (NWA)

baroclinic_instability
wait..i'm out to 24 on the NAM and it looks like i got an old panel? anybody else? Through 33, the NAM is deepening the upper low faster than the 18Z NAM--but it is still lagging behind the GFS on timing.
RTutton
850 already east of DC at 30? Or does it move west before coming east first?
WVclimo
I once picked up 14" during a storm when the temperature was 33 for the majority of the storm: 2/22-23/87. I think a bit much is being made of modeled surface temperatures. When this one pulls in the cold from the nw, and produces dynamics the sfc goes along with it. baroclinic_instability
Broadcasters are more about entertainment and personality than education. Unfortunately he is right. Nobody cares about paying someone more for an education. The public doesn't care or notice the difference anyways--at least the general public. All about ratings--and typically personality is more important to joe blow.

WxUSAF
21z SREF plume info: Baltimore: 4 members stay rain the whole time. Mean rain .52", mean snow .29" (slightly less than all the others today, but not by a lot). Max snow, .78", Changeover definitely looks a bit earlier than 15z and much earlier than 9z SREFs. 19-20z on Wednesday or so on average. DC and Sterling not available yet.
