mattie g
Speaking of grammar and all that, isn't it supposed to be "Nattering nabobs of negativism?"
North Balti Zen
Ian's waiting for you to pour your bowl of Corn Flakes before he can piss in them. That's why I have switched to toast, hoping the lack of sound of flakes hitting bowl keeps him from peeing on my breakfast of winter hope.
clskinsfan
Don't know about JB, but I'm surprised we aren't talking this up more. Almost all of the GFS ind members give us a good event, it would seem. The 3z SREF members look very good. I agree with you. They give us in the western burbs a real shot a decent snow storm for once. East of the city could have precip type problems though.
needbiggerboat
His poor punctuation probably resulted in a weenie suicide somewhere. Grammar is a lost art it seems. Does anyone else cringe when the apostrophe "s" is erroneously used to indicate the plural, or "it's" is used to indicate the possessive vice the contraction "it is," or the words too/to are mixed up, or the words lose/loose are mixed up? If not, I will seek help. you really seem like a fungi to be around....such tolerance and optimism wrapped in one package NAM out to 66, a bit beyond its useful range, has the low in WV

Bob Chill
The NAM has been consistent in the overall soution with variations of track and strength (but when isn't that the case). My optimism meter had ticked up a few notches. Starting to think a real 2-4"+ of ALL snow may actually be in the forecast.

stormtracker
I'd feel a lot better about the means "showing the way" if Wes or Ian (or one of the other red tags) wandered through and said there was more reason to be optimistic about them doing that this time than the other times this winter that that has not worked out for us. lol

MD Snow
78 NAM still has precip in the area. Not according to the simulated radar...it's 50 miles north... http://www.nco.ncep....am_ref_078s.gif looks like maybe an 8 hr snowstorm at best...still would give areas 2-4 or 3-

NattyBo
If the NAM track were taken verbatim, what time would we be looking at for a storm onset? I know a lot of this can and will change, obviously. I have to drive 95 between DC/Baltimore and back on Friday so just trying to get a handle on things. CarolineWx
surface temps is in the mid 30s in Northern VA and upper 30s in Central VA at 72hrs so temps is borderline on this run but its better than the 00 run
CheesyPoofs
Not that we should be taking QPF numbers from the NAM at 66+ hours seriously, but for fun... IAD: 0.29" DCA: 0.43" BWI: 0.44"

showmethesnow
For what it's worth the 09Z SREF looks decent as is. Don't like the fact that it develops the low as it's moving away. 6 hour difference either way on developing that low and you are talking a good snowstorm or an inch or two. WxUSAF
Why the heck is their negativity on this event Friday? Besides the Euro, there's pretty good consistency between the NAM, GFS, and GGEM and all show us getting our biggest snow of the season with a general 3-5".
