In the very next post I asserted in no uncertain terms that I will warm above freezing....it's not a hockey game....it's meteorology lol.

You are a far better winter spot than I am...hands down, but you should be concerned about the mid levels in this event.

3/-3.5, lol, just messin' with you Ray. It always sucks to hear pingers long before any change over was forecast to occur. However, in this event , while I am 'concerned', I just feel that we'll see a prolonged period of snow before any taint might happen. Seems like the cold is overperforming well to our south already, look for that to be the theme here.

Of course, can'ts see what's happening off-shore. But, the national radar looks like a big NAM-like surge of QPF heading straight toward the Hudson.

it would appear that way mike

however the HPC 1 day graphic shows the initial QPF Spike in a N /NNW fashion over eastern Delmarva then diverting a bit NE...then a secondary one seemingly assoicated with the CCB Of the low..running up from the ct/ri border eastward...

however this is not etched in stone .

good to see dc starting as flakes, nice that the atmosphere is cold throughout always a good sign.

will like to see them stay snow for awhile

0.0 + C 850's lurk a hair SW of extreme w. md. as well as over part of chesapeake bay. ....right now alligned with the heavy batch of precip chugging north

Burlington just switched their advisories to warnings and expanded the advisory further north (I believe). What could cause a switch from advisories (issued at 4) to warnings (issued at 6).

This is what they said.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...

-- Changed Discussion --AS OF 637 PM EST MONDAY...BASED ON MORE CONSISTENT 18Z GFS/NAM

MASS FIELDS AND QPF DISTRIBUTION...HAVE UPGRADED TO A WINTER STORM

WARNING FOR RUTLAND/WINDSOR/ORANGE COUNTIES IN S-CENTRAL VT. A ROW

OF WINTER WX ADVISORY COUNTIES NOW EXTENDS FROM ADDISON-

WASHINGTON-CALEDONIA-ESSEX COUNTIES. WITH 18Z GFS/NAM SHOWING A

MIDDLE COMPROMISE AND MORE CONSISTENT SOLN AS COMPARED TO THEIR

12Z COUNTERPARTS. THE 12Z ECMWF IS VERY SIMILAR AS WELL...WHILE

15Z SREF MEAN QPF AMTS REMAIN A BIT HIGHER THAN EXPECTED. BELIEVE

0.5" QPF LINE WILL GENERALLY LIE FROM JUST NORTH OF KRUT TO 20S

KMPV TO 20 S 1V4. SOME SELY UPSLOPE ENHANCEMENT CONTINUES LIKELY

INTO THE ERN SLOPES OF THE GREEN MTNS...WITH HIGHEST SNOWFALL

TOTALS EXPECTED THERE. UPSLOPE COOLING MAY ALSO LIMIT SLEET

PRODUCTION IN THIS AREA DESPITE WARMING ALOFT TO NEAR 0C. ONLY

SLIGHT ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED TO SNOWFALL TOTALS FROM PREVIOUS

SHIFT...WITH 5-9" ACROSS WARNING AREA AND 4-6" FROM ADDISON COUNTY

UP INTO THE NE KINGDOM. LEFT 2-4" IN THE BTV AREA WITH LESSER AMTS

ACROSS MUCH OF NRN NY /1-4"/ WITH POTENTIAL DRY SLOT AND MORE

INTERMITTENT PCPN CHARACTER TO THE WEST. SLEET SHOULD ACTUALLY BE

MOST PROLIFIC TUESDAY AFTN ACROSS THE ST. LAWRENCE VALLEY. NARROW

AXIS OF WARM AIR APPEARS TO MOVE NWD IN ADVANCE OF PRIMARY

LOW...WHILE SECONDARY LOW TAKES OVER SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND.

THUS...BEST POTENTIAL FOR MAX TEMPS ALOFT IN EXCESS OF 0C IS

ACROSS NRN NY. MAINTAINED A CHANCE OF SLEET AREAWIDE TUESDAY AFTN

INTO TUESDAY EVENING. MAIN HAZARD WILL BE WITH SLIPPERY/SNOW

COVERED ROAD CONDITIONS LATE TUES MORNING INTO TUESDAY NIGHT WITH

THE MORE DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS CENTERED ACROSS

SERN/S-CENTRAL VT.

SFC WINDS WILL BEGIN TO SHIFT TO MORE NORTHERLY AS LOW MVS INTO

THE CANADIAN MARITIMES DURING THE DAY WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL ALLOW

FOR FOCUS TO SHIFT TO NORTHERN ZONES/MTS FOR ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL

SNOW ACCUMULATION ASSOCIATED WITH ORORGAPHIC SNOW SHOWERS...WITH

MORE LIMITED SNOW SHOWER ACTIVITY INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT. -- End Changed Discussion --
