40/70 Benchmark
AWT WE HAVE UPGRADED PORTIONS OF EASTERN CT...NORTHWEST RI AND PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL MA TO WINTER STORM WARNINGS. THE BOUNDARY LAYER IS JUST SO COLD AND WITH THE SURFACE LOW PRESSURE EXPECTED TO PASS NEAR NANTUCKET/OUTER-CAPE ITS GOING TO BE AWFULLY TOUGH TO GET TEMPERATURES ABOVE FREEZING MUCH TO THE NORTHWEST OF 128. THEREFORE...RAPIDLY ADVANCING MID LEVEL WARM AIR SHOULD CHANGE MOST PLACES TO SLEET/FREEZING RAIN UP TO THE MA TURNPIKE BY NOON. THE COAST SHOULD EVENTUALLY CHANGE TO RAIN DURING THE AFTERNOON AS ENOUGH OF A MARINE LAYER WORKS INTO THE REGION. HOWEVER...NORTHWEST OF 128 WHERE TEMPERATURES WILL PROBABLY REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THE MAIN PRECIPITATION TYPE THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE FREEZING RAIN. ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH OF ICE ACCRETION IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION. THIS MAY RESULT IN LARGE TREE LIMBS COMING DOWN ALONG WITH SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. THIS WAS THE REASON WE UPGRADED TO A WINTER STORM WARNING. I'd make one slight change.....major icing should be confined to areas to the WEST of rt 128......areas to the N , like me, will get to 32.0000001. When N of the rt 128 belt, you will have to get to rt 495, up by N Andover, Dracut. I won't see major ice. 16.6\14 S+ 1.75" I'm out.

I found it on the akq webpage...and finally figured out how to permalink to our area. I like it a lot, really helps with QPF type verification too. NOTE the data density feature at the top of the map..you can really uptick the data points

TalcottWx
The 12z nam csi and frono is indicative of some 1-3" rates (maybe the 3" is a force). High amounts should verify nicely.. 800-600mb fronto looks pretty sweet
