Clinch Leatherwood
What's your temp? We're up to a balmy 16.2. Can't see us getting above freezing at the surface up this way. New NAM would keep Kev away from liquid until maybe 1030/1115 am time window. Those few hours vs the 0z will help save some snow. Nice coating of sleet will be the sacrificial lamb for many of you. Cold Miser
I don't know why my county now has a "Winter Storm Warning", with all rain forecasted after 3:00pm, and 2-4" of snow forecasted before that. I am guessing that the snow is finished, and that rain is in the future, so I don't get the "Warning".
40/70 Benchmark
BOX expanded winter storm warnings further southeast to cover for icing. I'm under a Warning now, but of it's predominately for ice....ehhhhhh
JJBASHB
Really ripping out there. Snowflakes are still under-developed, but pouring down. About 3" on the ground now. 1/4 to 1/2sm vis Same here this morning but they have improved in the last half-hour.
wxmanmitch
I'm also hoping a little of the upslope component that BTV mentioned last night for the East facing Greens helps here as well. In any event, more snow has already been laid down and more is in the offing so I couldn't be happier. Yup, I bet it is helping you out. Any upslope component is helping to keep that marginal warm layer at bay there for a while longer. You may do quite well. Interesting mesoscale effects going on between you and I. I am about 15 miles directly west of you.

weatherwiz
It depends how long the sleet lasts..If it keeps sleeting into the afternoon it'll save some tree damage I wonder if we'll see the transition over to mainly freezing rain once we get the 925/900mb temps to get above freezing, so far the fastest and strongest WAA is occurring up around 850mb and with levels below that still all below freezing it's allowing for the sleet. ChrisM
still haven't cancelled classes past 12 noon today...I honestly think it's going to be downright dangerous for people driving in. Factor in the hills around here and it's just not good. I'm referring to UConn Storrs for anyone who doesn't know. The icing's just starting here, I really don't think this is going to be pretty.
