Sleds used to be 30-35hp with 17" wide tracks. now they have 100+hp and 13.5" tacks with 144 picks in them. It's like a chainsaw, a hot knife through butter. Trails have to be groomed daily. Then you have the guys who think the throttle is binary and "ride it like they stole it". I used to live out in Westfield and we had about 10 miles of local trails, deer runs etc and they were always mint, even with 4-6". Now the talk already is that we need more snow. Can you imagine, we just got 40" in Savoy and we need more snow. I mean, how fast do you need to go in the trails. I'm about done with it, time to get back to skiing.

Got it thank you. Have been curious about the industry for some time - have never done it.

If anything resembling the NAM comes to fruition tomorrow, there is going to be some major urban street flooding going on in SE MA.

LOL, yes indeed.

Well hmm , RIC is frzra with a 10 mph NE wind, winds are NE light in a lot of places, I think you get smoked

Well I don't want any ZR. lol

We'll definitely increase the NE llvl flow once the sfc low begins to crank...I wasn't insinuating this would be a calm, totally rotting airmass. I just wish we were advecting in some colder air at 900mb up here.

good call. We do both. Use the machine to access the steeps. I ride on a lot of private land and the trails are in great shape. Have had 40+" here this month (38 here at the homestead) things are good except in places that were wind scoured. Then again, the snow on the lee side is twice as deep.

you should try going to northern vermont or southern quebec best trails youll ever see and they have speed limits and dont get torn up nearly as bad!

No I mean what model handles SWFE best

Oh, yea....I'd say the EURO.....GFS is good, too.

If you remember those two Nina winters, the NAM would keep dangling the carrot in front of NYC all on it's own, only to eventually capitulate to the GFS and EURO time after time......it can't handle WAA in swfes.

I grew up on skis, started at 3, ski team in HS etc. Kind of lost it about 10 yrs ago, my wife is more of a hot chocolate girl than a skier if you know what I mean. Started with the sleds as more nostalgia with my parents, getting a few old cats and then a few newer ones. But frankly, it's getting almost scary out there riding. Just too many knuckleheads. I enjoy the ride, being on the snow etc, not the need to push it all day long.

I'll get my girl on skiis (maybe a sled) next winter (she's tuning 1 in 2 weeks) and will get back to it slowly, lol. Wish I lived near Blandford where I started, what a great place that was even back in the days with no snowmaking.:arrowhead:

Maybe my MET is screwed up but with LP to my SE shouldn't my ageo be NNE Advecting colder air. NAM low levels seem screwy.

Yeah, parts of Northern Vermont are awesome, been up in the Stowe area a lot and you hardly see another sled all day. But it's FAR to trailer. Never been to Quebec but heard really good things about it. Someday I'd love to.
