dendrite
Correct. But is being off by 15F normal? With strong radiational cooling? Sure. I've seen HIE/BML 20-25F below their progged 2m temps before.
weathafella
What's your point people? I already made my call for myb of 1-2". Y'all can kiss my ass. weathafella
Friday is classic Miller B bowler out under us and bombing. I think the only issue is who gets dry slotted or ptype issues. Big snows for many Friday...book that one.

Baroclinic Zone
Hey now....we're all in the fun and games business Bob.....relax! And I'm a weenie...old and limp but proud of it... Well 3 of you jumped on me like I'm expecting a foot of snow here. I was pointing out the simple fact that the NAM is busting high with the 2m temps. Is that a false statement? I do think it has bearing on RA vs FRRA for some.
Ginx snewx
Yup. I'd rather have a 10mph low level NE wind right now advecting in cold/dry air instead of 0F that will be retreating. Well hmm , RIC is frzra with a 10 mph NE wind, winds are NE light in a lot of places, I think you get smoked

Ginx snewx
Temps starting to rise in Blackstone...up 2 degrees in the past 45 minutes...low of 7.7F. Doesn't mean much anyway...in situ CAD is meh. Hot honeymoon sex FTW
dendrite
Yep. i still like my 4.5-9 call here, probably in the 6-7 inch with a little glaze... Wait on more info though. What did you get in V-Day 07? I think about 7-8" of snow and 2-3" of sleet on top.
cheetah440
What's causing it, just rough riding, tearing up the snow and blasting it off trails? Sleds used to be 30-35hp with 17" wide tracks. now they have 100+hp and 13.5" tacks with 144 picks in them. It's like a chainsaw, a hot knife through butter. Trails have to be groomed daily. Then you have the guys who think the throttle is binary and "ride it like they stole it". I used to live out in Westfield and we had about 10 miles of local trails, deer runs etc and they were always mint, even with 4-6". Now the talk already is that we need more snow. Can you imagine, we just got 40" in Savoy and we need more snow. I mean, how fast do you need to go in the trails. I'm about done with it, time to get back to skiing. mostman
From about you points west should be concerned about ice, imo. Sucks. I can deal with a 6 hour outage - but the multiple day thing is the worst. I need a generator. Chances of finding one tomorrow are probably close to 0. moneypitmike
From about you points west should be concerned about ice, imo. You think so, Ray? What are the surface temps going to be? ALY's AFD (pre NAM) was for sleet to be the big culprit keeping accumulations in the 3-8" range in the Berks while BOX had us more snow in their westernmost zones. Baroclinic Zone
If anything resembling the NAM comes to fruition tomorrow, there is going to be some major urban street flooding going on in SE MA.
cpickett79
this looks potentially very bad for icing IMO.....warm tongue near 9H = ZR west of 495.......i bet if i drove 6 miles west to westborough and it will be a skating rink tommorrow late evening. folsum jersey turning over to pingers 15 min ago The warming will likely be top-down tomorrow... warm air is having no problem surging in aloft based on the 0Z soundings and recent obs, so its a matter of all that warmer liquid water slowly eroding the cold air below. Plus the heat release from the rain freezing will tend to warm the lower atmosphere... which will be fighting against the northeast flow. apparently winds at 850 and 7H are Southerly ....
