Keith O
25.4 here at 1030 with heavy sleet/freezing rain mix (would say about 80% sleet). Roads are a mess. I sit at about 600' with 1000+ foot ridges to my east and west which is seem to be keeping the cold air locked with only a very light NNE wind. Wonder if we will break 32 here today? kpantz
How much snow did you end up with? ZR for Blue Mt won't help the nice conditions so far this season. Hope for fresh snow Friday! Scotty Lightning
I have a question guys. I'm sending this over from the NYC obs thread where we've noticed Wildwood's (KWWD) temperature reach 61 degrees so far this morning. Since no observing location in its proximity is nearly as high, thinking this is erroneous. A glance at the nearby buoys offshore doesn't show temps above the mid 40's over the water, adding to making this suspect. Furthermore, if recorded as official, it would go down as a record high for the site (previously 57 in 2006). I'm not familiar with the site, but it is purportedly from an airport in Cape May. What is the track of its accuracy this winter? Can one verify this location or is it unreliable? THanks. The station is in Erma, about 6 miles inland. There are a lot of instrumentation errors there and the station goes offline a lot. I would rely on the buoys and ACY.

Regardless the ice is building up steadily on all surfaces. We probably will not reach freezing, at least not until the precip tapers off in a few hours. Keith O
Looks like the ridge just to our east is keeping the cold air locked in as Jefferson (other side of ridge) is above freezing. Fully agree that looks like we stay below freezing until the precip begins to taper off. I think your estimate of about 2.5" of snow before the sleet is a good one. Ice is building up here as well. Temp continues to creep up, 26.5 now. Same here. Temp has fluxed up and down between 24-27 with variations in precip intensity. Had 2" snow/sleet this morning. Yes_Probably_Maybe_No
Looks like the CRAS had the right idea with an inverted trof-like feature setting up over SE PA. Another inch or so late tonight to top off our ice? Then substantial snow Friday? Wow, what a winter! I wonder how much of this is actually snow. The precip is advancing with the 850 line, and I actually think a lot of this is mixed if not light rain, at least in SE PA where the surface is also above freezing.
