Wow, looks like that sleet line is advancing quickly. Still snowing here, with maybe 1.25" of new snow on the ground. Pretty outside. Waiting for the pings, lol. 25F.

It's mainly sleet with some freezing rain mixed in here in New Brunswick so it must be IP/ZR in Metuchen as well.

Just after this post, as I was going to bed around 2:20 am I started hearing the pings of sleet. Since I didn't measure again, I'll go with the 1.25" of snow I measured earlier - from what I heard it changed to freezing rain pretty quickly after the change to sleet. Woke up to a nice 0.2" or so of glaze on top of everything. Made for a fun drive from Metuchen to Rahway. Temp in Metuchen was 31F as of about 8 am and was 30F when I arrived in Rahway. Surprisingly, looked like they had barely touched Route 1, which was still slushy and slow.

92 - we are about 6 miles NE of NB, so it's not a given we're going to have the same weather at the same time (usually the case, but not always).

Just back in from plowing...32 and raining here. I think around 7-7:30 I could start telling the difference that it was going over to just plain rain. Looks like overall the storm will bust in storm amounts, not as much rain coming on the radar. It was not nice having to shovel snow with 1/4 to 1/3 inch ice glazed on top of it. Im done with winter. Ready for 90s and high humidity and another hot scorching summer

The temp finally went to 32F here in the hills of the city around 8:30. Had to go out in it about an hour ago to drop off the car and return, and there was moderate rain at that time.

Current OBS:

Temp 32.7 F

Light Rain and fog

Winds light to variable (with occasional gusts) out of the NE

Because the surfaces were so cold, there is still some accretion happening on the colder surfaces (trees, shrubs, metal fences, etc) but water is running off these as well from the rain. Some of the shrubs and evergreens have been bent down from the ice accretion. There are big puddles on the streets next to plowed mounds and the streets were wet with granular slush (seemed to have been sleet from overnight).

:axe:

I have a question guys. I'm sending this over from the NYC obs thread where we've noticed Wildwood's (KWWD) temperature reach 61 degrees so far this morning. Since no observing location in its proximity is nearly as high, thinking this is erroneous. A glance at the nearby buoys offshore doesn't show temps above the mid 40's over the water, adding to making this suspect. Furthermore, if recorded as official, it would go down as a record high for the site (previously 57 in 2006). I'm not familiar with the site, but it is purportedly from an airport in Cape May. What is the track of its accuracy this winter? Can one verify this location or is it unreliable? THanks.

With that last heavier period of ZR my anemometer froze over at around 915am....we are finally getting close to freezing here in NW Philly burbs so should see a little bit of melting soon. Plows have been by a couple times this AM and roads appear just wet....now my driveway...well that's another story

Current

Lite ZR

Temp 31.8
