The funny thing is I have seen numerous "ice storms" hyped up around here that ended up being FAR less than what that this turned out to be. And this one was under-forecast and under-hyped. There wasn't even a watch -- LWX was forced to go to st8 to warnings for the northern suburbs.

how about the fact that models couldn't even predict the precip from 6 hours out. Tonight's 0z models kept the heavy precip from 95 east. Perhaps this breaks the pattern of having issues with precip in our area. I would much rather fight with rain then this stupid precip hole

Agreed, I tried to make the point earlier how guidance sucks this year, but I only got bashed for it and accused of insulting the programmers....But its the truth..they have been terrible this winter...Could be La Nina..but still.

only 67 customers out per BGE....thinking this wont be a major power outage situation.

I really doubt widespread power outages, largely cause so much of the storm so far has fallen as sleet/snow. However, since areas like Northern Montgomery and Howard and Baltimore County have only recently went over to freezing rain from sleet/snow, I would wait to see what things look like at 8 or 9 a.m. tomorrow before you rule out power outages in some of the traditionally colder areas that are unlikely to rise above freezing till sometime tomorrow morning.

Oh im not ruling out any power outages...in fact I guarantee that number goes up..Im just saying overall i dont expect it to be a big deal.

Not to be redundant, but now 29.1...Im a little surprised at how quicly the temp is rising, I know im close to the bay, but the majority of the bay is frozen over...at this point Im thinking Ill be plain rain by 4AM and the rush will be spared...Different story obviously on the northwest side of town.

Just took a walk outside, the street is icy enough to be a skating rink, trees are coated in about 0.1" ice, pine branches bending down.

Honestly, I'm confident in my trees ability to handle the ice, after putting up with snowmaggedon & The 7/25 severewx.... most of the weak stuff has probably been taken care of. I'm hoping I'm far enough west to avoid warming much further.

For those who want more ZR accumulations at this point, lighter precip is better than heavier. Marginal temps won't freeze moderate rain, but it can keep up with the light stuff. Also heavier returns at this point are likely to bring down the warm layer further and could push temps up higher.
