Someone is going to get a bad ice storm.

I was just thinking the same. Walked outside in the District and already a solid glaze over everything -- including the side streets - and it's only really been freezing rain instead of sleet since 11 p.m. or so. Haven't looked at radar in awhile, but if areas outside the city can stay cold enough long enough, i'm starting to envision some issues if the precip keeps coming.

Fortunately not me. I read all of the posts today that guarenteed 33 and rain (DC metro doesn't apparantely get ice events) then saw LWX cut back on the ice accetion amounts for my area earlier this evening to less than < .1.

So, I'm confident that the sleet and rain I have now will be all gone by morning and my 26.8 temp will be 33 very soon.

Reminds me of a storm I had growing up in Georgia. Came through overnight like this one and left some pretty crazy tree damage in its wake. I will say the trees are stronger in DC vs. the flimsy tall pines you see in the south, but its still pretty similar. I think areas to the west might get the brunt of it considering the dry slot building south of Richmond, but we will have to see what happens come tomorrow's rush. Kind of shocked that there is only an advisory out for DC still.

For what its worth, the Berkshire, Dundalk weather station is up to 27.3 from 26 just in about the last hour..so warming is taking place...it just depends on how quickly it continues to warm will determine how bad the morning rush is around these parts.

Being east of Baltimore.. you will see the warm up to 32 and above a bit faster then we will.

Also, Im not sure whats up, and I dont even feel like going outside to see, but about the last half hour Baltimore Martin Airport, Dundalk and essex weather stations are just reporting Overcast OBS's which does not make any sense based on radar...I might have to venture outside to see what the dilly is.

Early for that, but any pine trees near power poles could pose a risk... they suck when it comes to ZR.

Meanwhile, temp rising for sure, risen about more than 1 degree since the bottoming out.

It could be the heavier precip bringing down some of the warm layer above.
