From WBALTV:

BALTIMORE -- A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of the Maryland overnight as a storm collides with a cold air mass, forecast to deliver snow, sleet, ice and rain.

11 Insta-Weather PLUS Chief Meteorologist Tom Tasselmyer said the storm system is not as well-organized like a big-time Nor'easter, but when the moisture passes through the cold air over Maryland, it will bring several hours of sleet and freezing rain.

Baltimore Gas and Electric is closely monitoring the storm for potential power outages as a result of a half-inch of ice anticipated.

By Monday evening, a cold air mass kept control over the Mid-Atlantic with temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s across much of the state, with the exception of the lower Eastern Shore, where temperatures ranged from the mid to upper 30s.

Tasselmyer said we can expect minimal snowfall from this storm because of the change to sleet and freezing rain at about 10 or 11 a.m.

1/2 inch of ice? really? That would be a huge deal (compared to the trace to .10" forecast)

27 degrees with sleet. These temps are going to promote lots of ice later tonight with the freezing rain

In all my experience - There's nothing worse than freezing rain. I'm good at ice jebwalks but it pains me to see my neighbors busting up their hips trying to fetch the newspaper in the morning after an icestorm
