Billabong
Only a 2 hour delay here...... so, in 3 hours I have to head off to class. half of that will be spent trying to chip away at my car door. Meanwhile... the ice continues to get thicker.

Philadelphia Wx
School District of Philadelphia is opening two hours late. I hope that the roads will be better by then, because they are a mess right now!

Rick G
I feel for the working parents with small kids. I really do, but do you really want your kids on the roads in an ice storm? Most of the schools in the wyoming valley have closed. Includings a lot of the colleges. That means I am going back to bed.
goombatommy
Luckily on Tuesdays my son is home with my wife, so we don't have to worry about that. Although I had to still go to work, the roads are terrible. Hardly any blacktop, I've seen numerous cars sliding out and spinning.

The W-B schools are getting really bad with this.

NortheastPAWx
PSU LV, W-B, and Berks have closed. PSU Hazleton? Nope. With a chancellor from Vermont though, we pretty much have no chance.

gravitylover
Delay or no I have to go to work as does my wife. This may be the first time our kids get left home to get on the bus by themselves. My neighbor across the street said the same thing to me a little while ago. How much damage can four middle schoolers do in two hours
gravitylover
Uggh another day off. The kids are now losing a day off their spring break every snow day.

gravitylover
Probably a pretty good guess. If that looks like the case I'm heading out super early with skis and sleds on the roof of the car and sacrificing a personal day at work...
NJHurricane
live next to a combo HS/MS here in Woodbury NJ, just SSE of PHL...road not treated as student and bus traffic is streaming in, under moderate to heavy snow. Ouch
kpantz
After being about the only school to close last Wednesday, Easton Area SD decides to stay open today - to be fair, though, everyone is open. Tough morning, for sure. We're keeping our preschooler home, as the wife would have to drive him through the hills above Easton with an infant in the car. I'm surprised Easton didn't close given their track record. I would except just about everyone to dismiss early.
Thunder Road
We're all in school down here. Woke up at 6:00 to 0.5" of snow. Now there's almost 3". I saw one plow on my drive to school and it wasn't even plowing or salting. Everyone's asking me if we're going to get out early, but honestly it's probably safer to wait until 2:30 when the snow stops, rather than letting everyone elave now while the roads are still bad. Yeah, I'm surprised schools did nothing given the conditions on the roads. I personally would have closed for the day because I knew things would worsen. But perhaps superintendents were taken by surprise so much that they didn't have time to call school off.

I have our principal as a teacher. He said he makes his call at 4:45am. It didn't start until after 5:00. Really a worst-case scenario for this moring's commute. Thunder Road
Our sister school, Nazareth Academy, is dismissing at 12:00. Council Rock, from which about 1/4 of our students come, is dismissing at 11:00.
kpantz
Easton Area SD closing early. Probably just as the serious precip this AM comes to an end. Early dismissals don't count against the snow day total; otherwise, I'd say this is another ill-conceived move, since I don't think anything appreciable falls between 2 and 4 this afternoon. Since it doesn't count, then I say no biggie.

Got a voice message a bit later from district... it started out "the weather forecast has proven worng"! Guy sounded pissed. Said buses are on route but if possible keep ur kids home today.
