Quincy
slug of precip is definitely trending W and NW of the City. Looks like NW NJ into the Hudson Valley and then the NW hills of CT will get the most precip and probably the most icing.

rygar
Well, for what it is worth the GFS continues to holds surface temps cold longer than NAM, though it does appear to have backed off somewhat. Just about everyone warms above freezing in the afternoon.

IsentropicLift
Taking a look at the critical thickness page off of SPC you can clearly see the warm air moving in and the surface 0 degree line holding steady. The warm air aloft looks like its going to overpass the surface 0 degree line within the next two to three hours.
IsentropicLift
00z NAM through 36hrs. Basically says Northen Warren, Sussex, Northern Morris, Western Passaic and Northern Bergen get between 0.4" and 0.5" of freezing rain QPF, very little snow and over an inch of plain rain. Everyone north and west of 287 gets 0.25"+ freezing rain.

Voyager
Question. While it looks like significant precipitation is shutting off early per radar, what happens with the moisture that I have circled in the national radar map? Does it move east/northeast into the region later this afternoon/evening?

jconsor
HRRR (RUC Rapid Refresh) has been doing quite well for this storm. It keeps the rain/frz rain line running from about southern Middlesex County NJ through NW Brooklyn and far northern Queens from 12z through 17z. The line finally moves north into Manhattan by 18z, but by then the precip is basically over. http://rapidrefresh....omain=t3&wjet=1 The wind fields show a well-defined coastal front very near where it shows the rain/frz rain demarcation: http://rapidrefresh....omain=t3&wjet=
