No, I mean with 850's that close to Baltimore/DC, surface temps should be below freezing going by how cold the NAM surface readings have been at the surface. Wow what a run lol.

Thanks. Still learning; need to figure out how to translate that. I'm sure I can find a thread pointing me to some model reading hints/tips.

...I really think this is going to be the winter where our biggest snowfall comes from a storm that sneaks up on us within 24 hours...I think, we get a 6 to 10 inch storm that was either suppose to be rain and falls as snow, or an over-zealous clipper or a freak renegade band of lake-effect snow that manages to set up without being forecast.

You have a good point there. One thing I've learned after living in this area for decades -- it is extremely rare to have a pretty cold winter like we are having without at least one significant snow. We've had snowless winters like 1998 and 2002, but they were warm throughout. As long as we keep getting periods of blocking and the cold that comes with it, we WILL get a storm by March 1.
