moneypitmike
There must be a post-Pats-Pain hangover taking place. I've never seen such a dead board with a watch in hand. lol Temps did their best in the waning hours before dawn to make up for delayed drop. 3.9/-5. Was thinking the same .. when I saw how much chatter occured overnight (5 pages) I remembered your desire last night to see 15 pages worth of reading in the morn. So, I guess there's a lot of people in severe depression, though I'd think a winter storm would prove to be a nice salve. My boss just sent me an e-mail from the tarmac in Cedar Rapids. Unlike me who has made the upcoming tropics trip as short as possible, he's extended his. Apparently it's currently 72 in Negril. No ice for them, I guess. I wonder how it will be getting to the airport pre-dawn Wednesday monring. It's only about 60 miles or so.......

moneypitmike
A good discussion from ALY this morning. Excerpt below: 3.5/-5 LATER ON DURING THE DAY...IS WHEN A WARM NOSE WILL LIKELY PUSH ACROSS OUR SOUTHERN ZONES...TURNING THE SNOW TO SLEET AND OR FREEZING RAIN. SURFACE TEMPERATURES MIGHT MUSCLE THEIR WAY BRIEFLY ABOVE FREEZING FROM POUGHKEEPSIE SOUTH (AND A FEW OTHER POINTS IN DOWNSLOPING AREAS) BUT RIGHT NOW WE FEEL THAT WOULD BE THE EXCEPTION AND NOT NECESSARILY THE RULE. FURTHER NORTH...OUR CURRENT THINKING IS THAT SLEET COULD MIX WITH THE SNOW AROUND THE CAPITAL DISTRICT AND INTO VERMONT AND MA. HOWEVER...A SLIGHT SHIFT IN THE SURFACE LOW TRACK AND OR A THERMAL PROFILES...WOULD EVEN BRING FREEZING RAIN FURTHER NORTH. THERE IS ALSO SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO WHEN THE PRECIPITATION COMES TO AN END. THE NAM RUNS HAVE BEEN FASTER TO MOVE THE STORM TO OUR EAST BY EARLY WEDNESDAY NIGHT...WHILE THE GFS IS A BIT SLOWER...AND LEAVES A TRAILING DEFORMATION ZONE ACROSS THE REGION. FOR NOW...WE SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO MODELS...AND LINGER PRECIPITATION CATEGORICALLY AT LEAST INTO THE EARLY PORTION OF TUESDAY NIGHT...LOWERING POPS TO CHANCES (50) OVERNIGHT. WHILE WE DECIDED NOT TO SHOW THIS YET...THE CLOUDS MIGHT LOOSE THEIR ICE...WHICH WOULD MEAN A TRANSITION TO FREEZING DRIZZLE ACROSS THE REGION TUESDAY NIGHT. simpsonsbuff
No--Worcester County and all of CT except the coast and Kevin are in the watch. Pats-pain FTL. Kevin's been in the thread, but he sleeps at a normal hour (I, on the other hand, sleep when Kevin is awake). How many posters in Worcester? 10 (I don't know off hand)... And it's not all of Conn, it's the western half that is in the watch. It's prob a combo of both my suggestion and yours.
mahk_webstah
Dropped to 0 but have bounced up to 5/-2. Looks like the weekend threat is trending better again. Who would ever have guessed? I think you know who....
moneypitmike
I will be soon enough..no worries It could be one of those situations where you have a lot of wintry precip but not enough to reach warning criteria in either the snow or ice area. I suspect that's what the reluctance was. Yes--you'll see some snow. But they're not confident you'll have 6". Yes, you'll have ice but not confident you'll get warning criteria. Doesn't really matter though, it's just semantics. I'll take eight inches of snow in an advisory over 5 inches during a warning anyday. And no need to have fun with that statement. mahk_webstah
EC is a hair over 1" QPF...all snow here. EC ensembles are over 0.75" QPF...all snow here. 6z NAM is about 0.85" QPF...all snow here. 6z GFS looks like a SN to Mix to SN scenario...maybe 0.50" worth of SN here. I suppose I relatively have to like how I sit right now...especially since Fri/Sun are probably off the table for me. looks like a 6-10er unless we get some good ratios on the front end. Gray calling for changeover to sleet and frz rain tuesday night but that just might not happen. Gonna e a nice snowpack here, biggest since 07-

weatherMA
Well were in the wsw for 5-10 but the box map gives me like 3". My location is right on the line between a couple inches and a major 6-12 snowfall.

Damage In Tolland
From Noyes on Twitter/FB FB4Cast: COLD! Highs only around 20 - some spots not quite! Light wind and sun, thankfully. Cold tonight, which is a problem because our next storm comes in Tuesday. Should be a mess with snow to mix to rain for some in Eastern New England. Trend is colder with this storm, given the deep cold today. More on NECN tonight as I get more data.
