cpickett79
nah it's not going to be epic maybe 1/2" accretion at worst and that's not enough to cause major problems. you sure...i thought that's enough to take down lots of tree limbs and then power lines? i mean should they get .50 inches ice. moneypitmike
The Pats look like dogsh*t so far... Lol. Is that snow in western MA on the 18z GFS? zoinks. I hope folks in CT/C-EMA have umbrellas for a mess of crap!
moneypitmike
nah it's not going to be epic maybe 1/2" accretion at worst and that's not enough to cause major problems. The precip rate of the 18z gfs would really hamper accretion rates, I would think. Esp with marginal temps. 19.3/
CT Rain
you sure...i thought that's enough to take down lots of tree limbs and then power lines? i mean should they get .50 inches ice. 1/2" is about the threshold for starting to see damage. Once you get 3/4" and 1" you start seeing major and widespread problems and that seems very unlikely. Not a ton of QPF here... and we're going to see some of it as snow and some of it as sleet. Ginx snewx
Yeah the worst case scenario here is a non-major ice storm lol. GFS shows thump snow with minor east winds interior then translations to prolonged freezing drizzle, if believed not a major ice damage but certainly a hazard. If in fact you can believe it, heavy in weight snow, stuck like glue with ice on limbs would be more problems than your typical 1/2 ice storm, me thinks

mahk_webstah
yeah i meant not a ton of precip falls as ZR well wouldn't that be something....GFS QPF has come up a lot and is now even more than the Euro. Wouldn't it be funny if you and I both got 18"+ snow bombs? I wonder if the model shows all snow or mostly snow for both of us? dont' know how to get that data. If that were all snow I'd have almost 20 inches at 10:

I see 3 models that give you over an inch qpf, great antecedent cold and a thick snowpack. Hmmmm.... Big Big Big winter coninuing.... CoT FTW How do you not correct a little colder in a setup like this? I think we dump and dump and dump keeping the column cool and then maybe we go to some sleet or light frz drzl. But that is crust and another big addition to our snowpack. 'course I's no met, but geez. Where's the excitment for what is increasingly looking like a big event? I guess I need to get the NNE thread going....

cpickett79
i don't think the timing of the precip getting in here is a lock to ensure a heavy front end thump......i wouldn't be shocked to see qpf delayed then BL temps warm.....this doesn't seem like a shoe inn for advisory snows in framingham yet to me. Very East centric board.lol I said a few weeks ago we'd get into a staccato rythm with the storms and that seems to be coming to fruition. Big Wnter incoming, Big Big Winter.
