dilly84
Actually, the January, 2005 blizzard shows up as an analog. That makes no sense. That lasted 3 days and looks nothing like it lol

cyclone77
Wow the NAM looks great! Really hammers the southern and eastern Midwesterners, yet still gives the folks to the north some high ratio love. I wouldn't mind a few inches of fresh powder before the arctic outbreak. Hopefully the St. Louis/LAF/Ohio crowd rakes it in!

baroclinic_instability
I don't think GFS will be as good as 18Z based on the way the height field is configured so far. GFS stops the postive trend it had last 4 runs the way it looks through 60 hours--unless something changes fast.
buckeye
gfs ain't buy'n what the nam is selling
KPITblizz
hmm.. GFS looks slightly less amped through 66 at least compared to 18z.
wxdudemike
I used to be a FF guy, but I love Chrome. Great browser. I need to get Chrome, but that would be my fourth browser LOL. I use FF mostly, and I have Safari just for weather data so I can junk it up with tons of weather bookmarks instead of my main browser. Maybe I'll switch to Chrome as my wx browser... 0z GFS digging the northern wave a little more?

ukrocks
GFS is a lot better for me. It would be an all snow event. At this point I would take the GFS over the NAM unless the NAM can trend colder.
Powerball
I think it needs to give up analoging. It can analog forever as far as I'm concerned. In any event, a few others that show up are... *Feburary 9th-10th, 2010 *February 10-11th, 1988 *December 16-17th, 1981 *1996 Blizzard
wxdudemike
So we have the super juiced up NAM and the drier GFS. Sounds like last week...
dilly84
Gfs not nearly as good as the nam but it isn't horrible. Still would be a 4-6" snowfall for many

cyclone77
The GFS took a step back, but it's just one model. Even it isn't all that bad for most. To me it seems a bit weak with all that seems to be coming together. It may yet reverse its trends later tonight or with the 12z. I'm sure there will be many ensemble members that feature a much more dynamic system than what the op shows.
