radarman
It's funny after the last 2 winters everyone is convinced the CT river valley is this god awful snow pit... when actually they do pretty well. BDL averages almost 50" per year which isn't so bad! It doesn't feel that way when ORH, the Berks, Tolland, and interior SE mass are giving themselves high fives as some sick meso-band with thundersnow is burying their foreman grill, and I'm seeing the sun poking through and trying to decide whether I'm looking at flurries or it's just the wind blowing stuff around, slant-sticking 9" in a drift against my windshield. weatherwiz
One or two big storms or an abnormal pattern can ruin a seasonal forecast. Its just like a severe weather season. I just think its excessively premature to count a season out in a science that is so far from perfect. The SE ridge will be flexing it's middle finger at me many times this winter. It can be a little bit more frustrating up by you because the downsloping can be more pronounced than here in CT where the terrain isn't as high on either side of the valley. weatherwiz
Watch BDL get crushed with 77" this year How does Springfield do? The only two strong La Nina winters to give BDL nearly that much are 1955-1956 with 76.3'' and 1970-1971 with 69.9''.
MaineJayhawk
Watch BDL get crushed with 77" this year How does Springfield do? I gave them 62" and they'll have 15% of that by the time the first week of December is in the books.

It was so close for you last year . Just the one event I'll never forget that we had here in Orange county NY and the R/S line was just to the east of me. Hope you get one this up comming season. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/StormEvents/storm02262010.html

powderfreak
Wouldn't be surprised to see some -FZDZ by morning. My forecast has snow and sleet then freezing rain and rain. Looking at progs, there's no way we see any pure snow with H85s rising above 0C but I bet a lot of the interior from the East Slopes of the Berks and points north/northeast see some light freezing rain or even sleet (good cold hanging tough at 950mb) to start the morning off. Logan11
This was a winter like day here today despite the ugly brown ground that sorely needs covering. Low 21 High 34 Now 27.5...... Wednesday is starting to look quite cold ...maybe not exceeding 32, or if we start out milder...holding around 30-35 and going nowhere with the cold advection. 25/20. CT Rain
Ginx... not sure if you have a coastal flooding fetish to go along with the hydrology and "heavy heavy low level cold" fetish... But here's a page I put together on my website that may be of interest to you http://ryanhanrahan.wordpress.com/coastal-flooding-records-benchmarks/ Also put some Hartford area records up that are difficult to find on the NWS page http://ryanhanrahan.wordpress.com/hartford-area-records/

Ginx snewx
lol figure you'd like it The Tides on line Web site is very interesting, the Christmas 94 surge in New London was impressive. Open ocean sites in RI yield some wild records from surge. Cool stuff, your records section on BDL shows how it used to snow up there, nice yellow tie by the way. CoastalWx
2 awful days and then it's winter starting with the T-day winter storm BOX will probably issue advisories for any ice given the impact of the Holiday travel. I would think typical areas like FIT through AFN and maybe to Pete's place.
