moneypitmike
Quick shot of snow for T-Day on the 18z gfs?? Nothing like 228z out on the 18z run to instill excitement and confidence. lol
ORH_wxman
Certainly not anything to keep me up past bedtime to see new model runs! Thanks for posting the stuff on the even last year. My memory's going in my old age. Was that our second event of substance that year? I recall a good snow on a Friday night which I think would have been prior to that. We had a decent event December 5th of last year. I believe that was a Saturday though.
CoastalWx
Yeah looks like a vintage '07-'08 event...sleet bomb for Kevin though while you rip dendrites.

The only great event I had on Dec 5th was 2003 and I got kind of meso-screwed in that one. The rest has been nickle and dime crap for the most part. Damage In Tolland
I'll bet you one day next week..either Tuesday or Wednesday (maybe Wednesday) BDL gets into the lower 60's...at least. I'll bet you a shot...if I win you have to get me two shots at the g2g...lemon drips. If you win I'll get you a beer This cold is going to get colder each run as we get closer. this whole torch idea isn't gonna work out..It';s already happened today.Went from 3 warm days to 1 .5...watch it continue. -NAO FTW

I don't really care how cold it gets though, the weather pattern around that timeframe looks quite active so as long as we are in a below average temp pattern we should have decent snow chances. However, once the -NAO relaxes a bit and begins a trend up ward that's when the EPO/PNA will take over. I still say either Tuesday or Wednesday gets above 60F at BDL...so is it a bet? I give a +/-4 day range for the Dec 5th rule 2009-12-9 2007-12-3 2005-12-9 2003-12-6 2002-12-5 2001-12-8 Looks like it mainly applies on odd years, so no dice this year

My memory with dates is awful, same thing with severe wx, I can't remember crap...luckily I have a friend in NH who is a freaking dictionary with dates. I always remembered events like July 15th, 1995, July 3rd, 1997, and May 31st, 1998 but I didn't know what dates they occurred, I finally knew the dates when I met my friend in fall of 2006 and we would talk about past events. I always remember the blizzard of 1996 but I never knew the exact date.
Ginx snewx
Dec 5th 2003 is by the far the best earliest winter storm in my life. Classic storm that would not end, drifts up to 5 feet.

Oh, hi Will! Yeah it's pretty crazy remembering all those dates...not sure how he does it lol. Maybe he just does so much work with them it makes it easier to remember. I'm kind of getting better at it though, I go back and try to read up on past events and such and if you keep doing that I guess it's easier. I swear some of these folks have them memorized, plus can explain it to newbies like me I am impressed by how well you can read and understand the highly complex dynamics shown in the models. All without ever taking a met class?!?

All without ever taking a met class?!? Unfortunately I don't..someday though, maybe this winter I can save up for them. Since I did the switch to Comcast though I get a $250 amazon.com gift card but I know I'm definitely buying Significant Tornadoes...that book is a MUST for anyone who loves severe wx. I think it's around $130...plus I'm going to see if I can find RAM for my dekstop on there, the RAM I have in mine now is starting to fail b/c my computer will randomly shut down and I looked up the error message and it's bad RAM. I would also like to buy a Tyler Seguin Bruins jersey as well.
