For today's event MPMike (and by extension, Tip) may be right about the latitude being the prime factor. In general though, it's hard to say why I don't do as well as you. The river here is about 110' while up there it's ~200'. You are at 380' according to your sig so you must be removed from the river by a couple miles, whereas MBY is about 5 feet higher than the height of the banks. I suppose that helps some. Also, I think the gradient is actually a little steeper down here, because Westhampton is only about 6 or 7 miles away, (or less) and is about 1100'. Also, the Mt. Holyoke range just south and is a rare E-W running range. Those peaks are roughly 1100' also. In NW flow like this, they are probably irrelevent, but I see downsloping effects very clearly in the UMass radar data on surface winds with a southerly component. Still flurrying. This is about all I expected, but I didn't expect places only 30 to 40 mile north in the southern Dacks to have 4 to 6 inches as they did.
