I really hope we can get some sort of thaw if not late this month, early next month. Would love to wash the car/clear the driveway and get these streets clear again.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. I hope the cold just continues to deepen. The first half of february is winter festival time in many cities! :snowman:

Funny just a few days ago we were talking about -20s in your area. Things can sure change fast.

Was sort of a benign day around here today. Had a solid overcast all day, with temps failing to rise out of the teens. Our 2" of snow pack we picked up early last week has held up undisturbed up to this point. I honestly don't know what to expect tomorrow. If you believe the GFS we have a good 4-5" of snow on the way, but most of the other models only give us an inch or two before switching to rain.

I really want to wash my car and have it stay clean more then a few hours. Its amazing how dirty the roads are...not to mention the pot hole situation is insane. I should take some video sometime so you can see how bad the roads are. With the budget situation, i have a feeling the best we'll get is some county workers and a load of gravel!

Since I run every day, it also adds to the suckiness of the situation (why i need a melt). I almost went down today on some ice (its everywhere on the roads)...

The streets in downtown La Crosse are a slop fest. That nasty slushy/gray/black oil stained slop... sticky and yucky. Need a run to 50F/sun and then a good rain (tstorm)

I was reading something that suggested severe wx could be good this spring... I hear that every year, but something about La Nina and tnad outbreaks.

I want to go for a bike ride.

Yeah I was at work watching, my co-worker Patrick7032 was down there, but he was on the northern cells along the Kansas OK border.

That reminds me, I've seen Patrick lurking around here a few times, but haven't seen him post much lately.

Also, Joe, I know that Falcons are out, but you are welcome to leave that avatar up as long as you like! Go Bears!

Still no advisories for here, but it's looking like we could have a period of zr later today. I'm expecting IWX to throw up a WWA at some point today.

As the ridge has past to the east, we're now getting a flow out of the east and I've noticed a nice little streamer coming in near Oakville, ON. Flow should continue to veer so it'll be interesting to see if makes it here. There's great instability but I didn't think anything as organized as that was possible due to the extremely dry air and low inversion heights.

Yeah we have been kind of busy here as of late with weather.

Beat me, -3F here. Although that's a lot colder than was originally forecasted. Haven't seen temps this cold in a couple of winters at least.

And the band should make it here, but we're fighting against time.

You are going to be broke by next week lol. Whats your depth now? The powder has settled here some, so avg is about 5", but its also got about a half inch of water in it, so its not like its going to disappear tomorrow lol.

This band has stalled and is dying so I'm not going to get much from it but there's no getting around that 100 dollars is gone.

I have about 10" of snowdepth. And yeah, 33 and a few spits of rain aren't going to do anything detrimental to it. Today marks the 11th straight day with snow cover imby.

Could it maybe be a winterlong snowcover for you from here on out?

This is our 12th day in a row with snowcover, but really, most of the winter has had it. We are on our 33rd day this winter with 1"+ snowcover, but several days in early December had a T of depth, so the only days with "0" snowcover so far in met winter are Dec 1, Dec 4-5, and Jan 1-4.

Interesting side note, this is the 23rd day DTW has had snow depth of 5"+, average for an entire winter (per 71-00 nowdata) is 15 days! And normal 1"+ days is 49, so at 32 at DTW already, an above normal season is practically a lock. Granted, peak depth was just 6" so far, so still holding out for deeper snow (we havent had a winter where peak depth was at or below 6" since 2003-04).
