on_wx
KDTX has a winter weather advisory up for areas 800 metres west of my present location. They're calling for 2-4 inches tonight...
cyclone77
Kind of glad the temps are relatively warm today. At 32 right now. My furnace crapped out yesterday, and probably won't get fixed till Monday as the part that's needed isn't available right now. Better to happen now than later next week LOL. Too bad EC doesn't issue advisories. I think they'd be useful.
on_wx
Too bad EC doesn't issue advisories. I think they'd be useful. They do issue special weather statements, though. It's nice to see that lately the media have been starting to relay the statements to the public unlike in previous years where they usually went unnoticed by everyone except EC themselves. Maybe the sudden change has come due to what happened on the 402 in December with the stranded motorists. ...but it would be great to see specific advisories to fill in the gap between light weather to extreme/severe weather. Less confusion for the public.

cyclone77
Feeling pretty "torchy" here at 34. Lots of dripping out there. My rain gauge reports some precip as well, as some of the snow melts inside the funnel. Snow depth is probably around 4" or so.
daddylonglegs
Snow depth up here is still a foot...and there is a LOT of water in that foot. I've got 34F and good melting... Some drizzling too. No wind and it feels downright balmy out there.
cyclone77
Snow coming down pretty nicely here at the moment. With a temp of 34 it's melting on contact with the pavement, but sticking everywhere else.

turtlehurricane
36.5" so far at MSN for the season, with that huge storm coming tomorrow. Looks like we're headed for an above average season. The snowpack outside is already quite deep, to the point it's definitely encroaching on roads and sidewalks. Throwing another foot on that in the next few days could break the city's back. michsnowfreak
With all its nickels and dimes January snowfall totaled 18" here. Have about 6-7" snowpack imby, was at a good friends in Bloomfield Twp last night and they have 8-9". Nice base to start with if we get slammed this week
turtlehurricane
A really warm and beautiful winter day today with upper-level convergence aloft! Up to 24 °F despite a very cold air mass in place, some melting is going on.
cyclone77
22 years ago today the QC almost made it to 70 degrees, at 69. Made for the all-time warmest January temp on record for us. I remember that day well, as I pretended to be sick so I could stay home from school and enjoy the warmth. Temps like that seem almost unfathomable right now with the overall lack of torches this winter here.

Madmaxweather
Looks like we got two possibilities in the next 7 days then the mother load of cold air comes down behind storm 2. Here is the debate right now... Joe Bistardi and some others think behind that mother load of cold we rapidly warm for the rest of the month. Winter heads west and we get mild and a tease spring before we go back cold relative to average in March. Thoughts?
daddylonglegs
Forgot its Feb! Jan ended -1.8F for the month here in La Crosse 11.3 inches of snow ... .79 inches of precip...which is .40 below norms...
