Chicago WX
Thanks for the well-wishes. This is definitely more like what I was expecting when I moved here. The 40 mile difference between here and Grand Rapids is amazing...they've had something like 17 inches this month while we've had 45 inches. Yeah quite the difference indeed. January has been rockin' for Muskegon. Season snowfall, as of 5PM today. MKG: 58.1" (-4.6) GRR: 27.9" (-14.6") January snowfall to date, as of 5PM today. MKG: 44.3" (+19.5") GRR: 16.4" (+1.0")

Epic ssw/sw flow events and nnw/n flow events but crapola on the wnw/west events and thus the lower totals at GRR and here for that matter. Toronto4
You guys are getting lake enhancement off a S/SSW flow that I'm missing out here. You can see it clearly on KC radar. Just a faint dusting on the ground with sugary snow falling imby. btw...update your sig! lol Done. Ended up with around an inch of snow.
snowstormcanuck
Done. Ended up with around an inch of snow. Nice to see. The station's having some problems though. I'm sure they should have recorded a little snow on the 17th and yesterday. Hopefully that'll get fixed.

Hopefully that'll get fixed. I hope so. It has been very reliable so far this season, up to January 15th. Hopefully Environment Canada will review this and make the correct adjustments. On the flip side, Pearson Airport did not record any snow, not even a trace, on the 4th! They recorded a trace of rain! I came back from Hawaii that day and there was snow falling at the airport. WOW!

cyclone77
Another subzero night on the way here. Already down to 6. Looks like we'll bottom out around -4. The weather pattern looks very uneventful for northern Illinois through early Feb.

michsnowfreak
Well CMH saved a little face and recorded 2.2" with that storm, but it was a WI/BowMe to ORD to southern 1/2 of lower MI special. BTW, here's a little radar loop of a portion of that storm. You can toggle the options/times and dates on the left hand side. http://mesonet.agron...ur=21&minute=45 Wow thanks...awesome storm here. 11.0" imby, 12.2" at DTW. remember it VERY well. We NEED a storm like that this winter!
michsnowfreak
Went with 0.4" of fluff yesterday. So hard to measure because of the wind, drifting against the old snow and stuff, the only thing that made it a fairly decent estimate was the very airy fluffy nature of this snow was quite noticeable versus the snowpack on the ground, so you could actually see the drifts of fluff atop the snowpack. Its now very glittery and bitter outside.

I only saw occasional pixie dust, enough for a dusitng. I missed out on the isolated lake effect snow showers (which it appears that's what michsnowfreak saw judging from his pictures). A-L-E-K
Picked up close to 2 inches of the driest lake fluff i've ever seen in about 45 minutes this morning. Watching to see if anything can become more organized, but that doesn't appear likely, which is a shame because wow to how efficient of the snow producer these things were. I was wondering if you were getting anything measurable. 12z NAM has spruced up the overnight/tomorrow snow around here, from that little impulse that's been meandering through MO. Went from something like 0.03" to 0.06" I'm sure. Trend is pointing up. EDIT: Oh, maybe a solid 0.10".

Caught me off guard, didn't look great on radar, band must have been real shallow, but boy did it come down hard for a short period there. Actually had a cross country skier just scoot down my block. Forget nickle and diming, I'm pennying my way to a respectable snow total this winter.
