michsnowfreak
Calling for an inch or less of snow today, then some more accumulating snow looks likely Mon/Tue and Thu timeframe. Keep those clippers and small disturbances coming to keep deepening our locked-in-place snowpack, while we await our February bomb
Thundersnow12
just eyeballing it I probably have close to a half inch of snow here.
Chicago WX
Nice dendrites falling here this morning. It'll be more a scene setter than anything, but nice to see.
Harry
I think the January 25-27 1978 analog needs to be considered majorly for the January 29-31 period. Phffttt, a couple of changes to that 168-192 and we are there!!!! Really? You know the interesting thing when looking at the ensemble mean for the GFS all the way to 384, is that we stay in a trough the entire time, I don't if I have ever seen something like that before. Honestly. That is the one thing i do find fascinating with this winter and thus the cold. Yeah i don't have as much use for it if it is not snowing BUT too see this type of cold hang on and on and on is something else. Every time i look at the models i expect to see a break down but ala nope.
daddylonglegs
NWS calling for -14F tonite.... GFS really wants to take the plunge around Feb 1st... I wonder if mid Feb turns mild... could happen.
BowMeHunter
1.2" of fluff this early morning.. Dam nice surprise and ratios. cyclone77
Some pretty cool looking light snow falling here right now. Coming down lightly, but the flakes are pretty large, and floating down slowly. Looks like we have another subzero night coming up tonight, as the NWS calls for us to hit -3. daddylonglegs
Bow- Satellite yesterday showed some lake ice...looked pretty thick towards the Chicago end. I'm guessing guys are out on that ice? A strong west wind would give guys a free ride to Michigan.
cyclone77
12z GFS looks very quiet for the rest of the month for most of the Midwest. We all know how fast that can change though.
Stevo6899
I told you it was coming! LES is cheating snow LOL. Very nice. its about time muskegon had some snow. That had to be crazy having very little snow up until January.
TugHillMatt
I told you it was coming! Yes, you did! Including today, we've had over 40 inches of snow so far in January and there's only been two days where we haven't had snow falling. I wonder what today's final snow total will be.... http://www.crh.noaa.gov/grr/climate/f6/data/?site=mkg (up to yesterday...)
Thundersnow12
somehow managed 1.2" here, wasn't expecting that. ratios had to be 25:1 or higher.
michsnowfreak
Finally getting a few flurries. Radar looks to be weakening some but DTX bumped up chance of snow from 90% to 100%. Little while ago had some peaks of sun now, hope it isnt a bust.

snowstormcanuck
This winter features a strong La Nina right? I realize that's just a little 6-10 day snippet but it reflects really what's been going on since early December.

snowstormcanuck
Fine light snow has begun here. Hopefully I can cash in on some of these insane ratios.
Hoosier
This might be more appropriate for a February thread but I was reading some Don Sutherland posts in the main forum and he believes that a strong -AO will return sometime in February. michsnowfreak
Todays snow is the first minor snow to underperform in a while. Only have approx 0.2"-0.3" of windblown fluff so far today. Little disappointed but oh well...it looks wintry at least. Onto the next light accumulation, Monday night. This one looks to be capable of 1-2". daddylonglegs
Just what Florida needs is another strong -AO... Around here its cold and dry...don't expect anything different anymore. Temp is plummeting here.. Down to 6F now...and still full sun... Been dropping all afternoon. Cold N wind out there. NWS at first saying only low single digits below tonite...now they have -14F up there...and i wouldn't doubt we go even colder. GFS is showing -20F
prinsburg_wx
looks like another arctic shot for next weekend around here after a brief warmup for later in the week...both euro/gfs have strong L diving to the lakes, hope it can come in further sw

snowstormcanuck
Light to moderate snow falling downtown. You guys are getting lake enhancement off a S/SSW flow that I'm missing out here.
