Thundersnow12
we're going to get so burried. southern phase or not, looks to be pretty dynamic, someone on the southern edge of where it stays all snow, should see some pretty heavy rates for a period. Ya given its a fairly strong sfc low (995mb) its going to have a good front end thump to it if it plays out that way.
Harry
The silliness will end here. One must attempt to defend their own actions when another is doing whatever they can to toss them under the bus. Harry: "Point is that IS why you prefer that over the southern solution. lets not kid anyone. Nothing wrong with wanting it in your backyard. Heck everyone here does." Then the later response by Harry is : See what i quoted above.. sheesh.. "Depending on your view of what the southern OV is not many on here are from that area that is involved in THIS thread. Most are from north of the Ohio river which most consider the Northern OV region. Then you have those in the Lakes etc. Thus what YOU like prefer ( as stated in quoted post of yours ) is not what most others here prefer. Thats all. " Cut the act Harry and realize some folks do try and forecast what happens, not what benefits their backyard. http://www.americanw...post__p__289547 Dude you need to relax because you are now starting to give the impression that is what you are doing. You said the more northern GFS would be better for most and i disagreed with JUST THAT. Nothing more. Never tried to suggest you were wishcasting. So quit with it. Madmaxweather
Call me dumb but I think the models are missing a key ingredient and until its gets sampled we won't find that out. I just think we have a phaze and southern low track that shoots somewhere between Hoosier-Steel City...

Harry
Harry, go back and read some of your posts. You really did. And not even implicitly. How so? All i said is more people are further south then north. Thus means more would be happier with a more southern track vs the GFS. How is that accusing him of wishcasting? All i did was disagree with him saying the more southern solution would be uglier for most. Not debating what the storm is gonna do. Basically debating what would be more preferred by most. Thats all.

You have to take all factors into consideration not whats best for your backyard. I sometimes fall into that but I have learned throughout the years you will get burnt if you do that. weatherguru
I just thinks the models are in that window where they lose their original idea only to come back to it later on. That has to be soon! Maybe will eventually see a stronger southern wave in the next 24-36hrs. I know what you are saying. I see stuff like this happen where it focuses to much on the northern stream and eventually will start to see some southern stream system get involved. weatherguru
The models do hint at a potentailly more organized system. It's not just a plain old alberta clipper coming down from Canada. This is a 255mph pacific jet powerhouse storm that tries to fizzle in Rockies and try to get a ripple of northern stream action across upper Lakes. LizardMafia
I come in peace...for all involved. But can we cut out the snippiness in this thread...please? EDIT: Geez that first line sounds perverted, but you what I mean. Not sure why people would be so snippy, most everyone has gotten at least some snow this winter so far.. Go Seahawks! Harry
http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php?/topic/8893-baroclinic-instability-vs-harry-clusterfck/ I am still not following on how i was accusing him of wishcasting? I mean the GFS works out much better for his backyard correct? So yeah naturally he is happy with that. Not saying he thinks it is the correct solution because of his backyard. Seriously some here do need to relax and take a chill. I completely understood what you were saying Harry.. the Solution baro mentioned is worse for the OV.. Period. It'd almost guarantee rain. But its done and over with. The solution isn't a lock anyways, and Id bet money on that. Meh.. As said i really have no opinion on this system and thus really don't care. Whatever happens happens. No need to get worked up over a model run. So no i am not worked up over that or what he thinks will happen.

The_Global_Warmer
this is super tame compared to the east coast threads. Baro is like 700 miles from me. It's not like we all live in the STL metro..most of you are a min of 250 miles from me, except for Cape, Flora, and the STL crew. LAF, JOMO guys are far away, then Chicago is further, Detroit is in another world, some are in another country. I would rather be told how it is then be told wishcasting. and I want sound science over hunches. anyways since the block is gone, the la nina is rolling this means. the southern vorts suck, the northern vorts can now amplify and bounce with no huge block to send it south enough for anomalous snow events from clipper or hybrids. We have had more the last 2 years then we did for the rest of the decade, nearly 80 percent or more of our 4+ events are southern lows. With that said good luck to you all, time to go back to sports for a while! weatherguru
I think we might eventually see a more stronger southern wave. I dont see a mega post frontal clipper system with such a deep trough and gulf moisture feed in place.
weatherguru
Soutern vort sucks because to much focus on northern stream. Northern stream is way to vigourous. This happens all the time. I think a more organized southern stream is still quite possible.
