Cpickett, the CCB performed pretty well. We had lots of TSSN when everything got going. The reason why parts of the area could not get to 20", was because of ratios..especially near me. This wasn't suppose to have 3-4" per hour snows..for 8 hours. CT benefited because they got the massive waa dump, and then as the mid level lows went to town and closed off, they got great banding with 15-20:1 ratios.

Blizz, I'm happy for you too. Always felt bad for you with the 14" curse. Hope you had fun outside with your daughters today. I just came back in after making a snow fort with mine. I want her to love snow to.lol

That is awesome.

Wow.

Honda Accord? 2008, tan?

That looks like some serious cement/wind compacted snow.

It's some kind of a Pontiac..It's white..I mean the thing was buried..It took him a good 30 minutes to get it cleaned off after he did his driveway.. He had to dig it out after he snowblowed.

The wind ripped to 40 here for a time today..then it slacked off ..but it was enough to create some monster drifts. Pure powder snow..never got above 27

I just couldn't believe how hard it kept snowing today. I thought it was over around 12:30 when i went out to shovel and that rotting CCB just parked itself over me..and is still here rotting away

I am in awe today

This was the day you have been waiting for and one more thing: GFS blows.

Yeah I know what you mean..I'm young so I only have 10 years of records. Jackpotting is not an easy thing to do..especially in a storm of this magnitude. Congrats on your 22.5" btw. Your live shot was awesome too..I laughed when you got snow stuck in your throat..pulled a Mike Seidel. :lmao:

haha... I was about 15 seconds away from a Jim Cantore moment with the thundersnow. It JUST missed by 6 a.m. live hit.

 S.O.B. ... I was gonna do that! lol

Simply perfect day today. Never left the yard other than when I turned the snowblower around.

One of my favorite things about big snows is that many parts of life come to a halt, and there is time to enjoy Nature and it's beauty.

Then I rip it up with the snowblower!!!

Oh the humanity as the storm withdrawals kick in... Shaking, sweating, hallucinations ...someone get those monkeys off that wall!

Judging by the distribution of snow totals and the other actuals about this event the NAM destroyed all of them, even the ECM left desired. The NAM locked in at 72-84 hours and never let go. Yes.

The snow piles are nuts here.... waist deep snow on my front lawn practically.

The +TSSN around 6 a.m. was one of the more exciting moments of my meteorological life

anyone else as tired as me, got like 2 hours of sleep, had some rumbles of thunder. I kept checking the radar every 15 minutes since I was paranoid about the dry slot. Then I woke up for good at 7AM and just stared out the window for a while then shoveled from 9AM til 3PM, took a hot shower, ate food, and shoveled some more. WOW! what a storm, snow banks over my head everywhere.

A spotter had like 15" for melrose early this afternoon. We are closer to 18-20" based on my measurements. Some blowing didn't help with that. What a storm, great meteorology, I need sleep.

Aside from 2/06, this is the most excited I've seen you for since...gulp...12/30/00. Your snowmageddon and my source of ptsd.

And this storm was complete with a Ray meltdown... except it wasn't Ray that had it... you did!

Yeah, this probably ranks up there with March 2001 and exceeds Feb 2006.

My snowbanks from shovelling are just sick..6-8 maybe 9 feet..I was having trouble throwing the snow up that high when I got out near the end of the drieway. I have several spots that are waist to even belly button deep..My youngest daughter got stuck a couple times..It was up to her chest in places lol

That's awesome. Did your camera guy catch it on video?

CT is the snow capitol of New England so far this year

no :( we weren't rolling and it was right before our live hit.

I'm not sure how this ranks up for my top wx events

Jan 1996 still wins for snowstorms though this one definitely came very close

The Wethersfield tornado a couple years ago was great too as was the SE CT flooding earlier this year.

Presidents Day 2003 in college was awesome as well... so much fun to get a 20" school in college.

I was very close to that tornado in newington that day and saw the swirling as I came over the Charter Oak Bridge chasing it. and that is def up there

But this still crushes that

I think.....that the ECMWF overall did quite well. It and only it correctly targeted ME for big totals that they got. NAM though gave the signal which was loud and clear. I think that GFS/UKMET were in la la land. Uk corrected in the final run prior to the event ....6 hour lead time. CMC was decent from 2 days out. But NAM led them to water. Still though, ECMWF locked and loaded from 5 days out. Initially over the bm and correcting as we moved in.
