I measured 28 here in Wallingford. Looks like Northern New Haven County was the jackpot in CT.

...NEW HAVEN COUNTY...

NORTH HAVEN 29.5 1120 AM 1/12 PUBLIC

MERIDEN 29.0 120 PM 1/12 SKYWARN SPOTTER

SOUTHBURY 28.0 1120 AM 1/12 PUBLIC

CHESHIRE 25.5 300 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

GUILFORD 24.5 300 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

NORTH BRANFORD 24.0 1240 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

Holy **** on that MMK total - just 10 SE of me with a 12" differential! Top 5 event in many CT towns.

Pretty sure my 20 .5 is about 12-1 , it started dry but after 8 or so it got wet and heavy for the next 6 then 7 dry, this last batch is blowing and drifting.

That's good to know, be interested to see what others came up with. The highest amounts may come over by Bob or up SW of Boston where the mud fell for a few hours. When all is said and done, it was ratios that drove some of the really impressive snow totals which is kind of normal.

Great storm... not Jan 2005 by any means for Boston metro (pasty wet snow instead of big powdery drifting stuff, not that windy, a solid foot vs. > 20") but still very impressive.

The most impressive dynamics including embedded thunder actually occurred in the first 6 hours of the storm... the "CCB from hell" was somewhat less spectacular than advertised for Eastern Mass.

And still seeking that elusive footage of thundersnow in the Boston metro.

In any case, thanks to all the mets / hobbyists who contributed with excellent discussions, including ORH, Typhoon Tip, Messenger, Coastal, 40/70, Wiz, Fella...

I love this stuff. Until next time...

We need one of htese parked off ACK, then Boston will have the CCB from hell.

The latest PNS takes off the 19.2" that was reported in North Cumberland, RI at 11am...which seemed at least a few inches high to me.

The problem with them removing totals is unless they're driving out to look.... they removed one earlier from north attelboro of 14"...this picture was taken from under that same band several miles NE at about 9am this morning. There was no snow left for the most part prior to the storm. A friend of mine just sent this shot over of his neighbors. They're pretty insistent that they had 13/15 this morning. The latest PNS has NORWOOD 16.5 200 PM 1/12 NWS EMPLOYEE

So the idea of 14" this morning with the banded nature....I'm just not sure how they're deciding what's good and what's not.

HAH ..Savoy was at 34.5" a few hours ago...is your construction site closed for the season?

We're fooked there. I've been trying to reach my partner but he's snowmobiling so I probably won't hear from him tonight. I'm just going to let it snow itself out and clean up on Friday as I'm skiing again tomorrow. I won't be surprised if there's a 40" report somewhere along the crest as upslope is going to drop another 2-4" possibly 3-6" as per ALY disco. The only savings grace is that it's powder and not wet mank. I haven't re-measured since earlier probably 27-28" here now but only a little pixie dust falling now.

Nice Joe, Soak it up, life is good.

Hey Pete, I totally am, getting ready to let the kids go out for one more snow run here soon. Amazing couple weeks down here, boxing day blizzard, mega norlun, then the 1111 mega band!

Two feet of snow pack on the ct shoreline, special stuff!!

I hope you are rooting for gang green come Sunday!

had a nice 18 inch storm here in framingham......the biggest think i took away was just how much deeper the snow was today then the 12/26 system....no real comparison...... was very pleased with the storm and the ability for us to accumulate snow nicely AFTER the low passed by....i.e "wrap around"

THE ONE thing where i think this underperformed was ....where people were saying the CCB is reall going to get going over EMA Areas between 12z and 15z.........snowfall rates and the radar was pretty much the same in that time frame compared to the rest of the storm....the CCB appeared to crank over N attelboro mansfield easton ....stoughton canton brockton etc etc.....but no crazy totals were recorded there.....? i mean i think there were some 15's or what not...but there was no 3-4/hr snows over the EMA CCB>.......the deform bands out in the berks and ct hills had those rates....but when turtle came on this early am....and said some guys in the office think the snowfall rates are about to go "ballistic" i kinda waited for the development of a deeper (dark green returns w/ yellows) but to no avail....there was a tiny spot near burriville RI that developed what i was waiting for but again it was a 2x4 mile area ......so while this event overperformed and gave me more snow that i thought it would and i am very happy with the total (don't ge me wrong there!) i was kinda like well if precip exploded more in the 7 am to 10 am time frame over a larger area i could have had 2 feet plus....even thou i did accumulate about 5 inches in those 3hrs 15 min....i was thinking that if there was ever storm where i would get 4/hr snow rates that this would be it?

anyone have any insight . *why the 12z to 15z period wasn't a monster CCB over EMA?

I got 17" of snow and still got screwed apparently, lol.

Lol, I think you and I tend to never jackpot..I got 18" I'm not complaining you won't hear a peep out of me now that I finally got a 10" +er. Truly a historic storm for SNE I'm glad I was able to witness it by staying up til 6 am. Want to thank Will, Ryan, Scott, and everyone else for their insight and observations. :)

No kidding - pick a town in any direction 10 miles from here and they have 20+" - there was a real lull here between 4:30-7:30 (subsidence from the Rt 7 megaband) that cut back the total here.

Live by the band, die by the band. Nevertheless, best event in 5 years.

Everyone jackpots eventually.

Kevin had never seen 20"+ of snow in like 38 years. That's an awful drought. This was the 5th time I've seen 20"+.

Yeah... even here in WH they were picking up 1"/hour when in Southington we were getting crap. Oh well.

Still a nice storm and you had more snow on the ground before anyway!

No doubt and no complaints- cashed in on the norlun nicely compared to nearby towns. Hard to believe that many CT locations have exceeded or are approaching seasonal averages by mid January!

There was a thin line kind of on the back edge that rocked. There just isnt a big sample size to make it into the PNS IMO. And the one that did they booted for some reason. I'm pretty confident 15-18" fell in that general area on the western edge.

It did...I measured 18" and Woonsocket measured 17.5". It's still snowing here too. I thought 19.2" at 11am seemed a bit high.

I was just finishing the deck with Diamond Dust falling under a half moon sky when it occurred to me that the thousand and thousands of posts I made finally culminated in yet another long lasting memory. Getting up at 2 to heavy snow, outside shoveling until 3 , with TSSN+, seeing the great majority of posters here reaching the 1 2+ mark and beyond. A special day all around, thanks for sharing it with me. What a party eh?
