I went over to the Municipal Building across the street...took an average of three measurements...got 18" on the ground. There was about an inch before the storm...so 17" on the ground from the storm...probably 18" fallen in more official 6 hour measurements.

The coastal front passage was very evident...about 13" of mashed potatoes with 5" of fluffy snow on top.

I live on Samoset avenue...Coburn is right at the corner..that is amazing...We have been here for 5 years and thankfully we have never faced a situation like that...Remember the Blizzard of 78 well..My sister lived up off Atlantic Hill in Hull and she had to be evacuated due to no heat and burst pipes...amazing...Though I am really concerned that we keep getting these Blizzards..our time may run out if we get one like one in 78...History has a funny way of repeating its self!

Thanks

Hull Mass

The true benchmark for all northeastern blizzards was in 1978

Eventful 3 days. Went to bed at 2 after throwing a nutty on the board in the hour prior over bl temps. I saw 12/30/00 and had the noose fit and tightened.......actually stated I'd move to FL if this turned to rain....

Walk up after at most 2.5-3 hours sleep to whiteout conds. Hours later did a 5 mile dog walk in the woods where I sent one post. Then shoveled for like 2 hours. Clearing the plow stuff is a pita. But when all was said and done....I looked in the mirror and said....not bad for a guy in his mid 60s. No sleep, heavy snow walk of 5 miles including climbing small hills, shoveling....not too shabby for 64.

So I'll say it again...

Long.....live.....winter!!!!!!!!!!

Long....live....Jerry!!!

Did this storm reach Blizzard Criteria anywhere?

Boston did officially.

Incidentally while this is technically less snow vs 12/26, it had a much higher impact due to the plethora of trees and limbs damaged from the weight of the snow and the cement of a 12-17 in the immediate Boston area.

It's less snow? How much did Boston receive in these two storms?

I measured 28 here in Wallingford. Looks like Northern New Haven County was the jackpot in CT.

...NEW HAVEN COUNTY...

NORTH HAVEN 29.5 1120 AM 1/12 PUBLIC

MERIDEN 29.0 120 PM 1/12 SKYWARN SPOTTER

SOUTHBURY 28.0 1120 AM 1/12 PUBLIC

CHESHIRE 25.5 300 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

GUILFORD 24.5 300 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

NORTH BRANFORD 24.0 1240 PM 1/12 PUBLIC

ridiculous totals and how widespread.

I ened up with 14" here, wind is really

Ripping now gusting past 30mph. Looking

Forward to next week, looks like it

Could be more fun.

What are the chances the clipper Saturday

Night surprises us with a couple of inches.

Still snowing moderately here from "something" ...whether lake involvement or backside stuff.... So I'm up to 8.6" out here.

Amazing site tonight after a long day of snow removal. Looking out over the backyard and down the street, driving through town late today, it was if I was transported to some remote ski village tucked high in the Rocky Mountains, enormous piles of snow everywhere, two lane roads, now one, since there is nowhere to put the snow. Its magical, this is not the coastal ct that I know.

Memories of 95-96 dance in my head, hopefully a nice 1-3 inch event this weekend, but for now, a nice single malt, fire and glance out at the dendritically delicious landscape, with flakes still cascading down from the heavens.
