jm1220
Measured around 11" early this morning. Overall it's a gorgeous scene but in terms of impact, the blizzard was much worse here. The snow was considerably denser (this snow is very fluffy and ratios must have helped, most of the snow we received from 2am on were dendrites), and the winds were much higher, not to mention the amount. Still a very nice storm for us and I'm glad the areas east of me that missed out on the blizzard somewhat got pummeled. That band early this morning out in Suffolk looked absolutely ferocious. Basically a faster version of 12/19/09.
Snowshack
Is the deck next to a roof? Have to be careful of snow blowing off the roof when measuring in windy storms like this. Agreed, it is close to a roof. Cant really get an accurate reading from grass because it still has soft snowpack. The brick walk I shoveled at 9:00 only has about another 1.5" on it. So I'm comfortable saying we're somewhere between 19.25" - 20.75". Like i posted earlier, Uptons total should be confirmation (or not) since we're so close. LocoAko
I have no idea why there seems to be a bubble of much higher totals around Clifton/Hackensack/Rutherford but the reports actually confirm it. How strange... Once it is on a map it'll be easier to see but I don't see why three reports would all be wrong.

NorthShoreWx
Video from Miller Place - impossible to keep up with shoveling. NEVER live on a sod farm! : Enjoy it while it is still a sod farm. They tend to plow them and plant house seeds. Is this farm on 25A? It just started flurrying here again. I had a prelim final measurement of 15.8" earlier. How strange... Once it is on a map it'll be easier to see but I don't see why three reports would all be wrong. They also seem to have beat me out. I think I had 9 or 10 but someone in my office who lives in Ridgefield (2.3 miles due west of me) says he got a foot. It is tough for me to measure being on the cliffs so perhaps I did get a foot and those other 12 inch reports are accurate.

NorthShoreWx
At least I got the driveway shoveled... We had plows back and forth all night and a payloader clearing the cul de sac this morning. It looks like you are still waiting for a plow.

It just started flurrying here again. I had a prelim final measurement of 15.8" earlier. Light snow here again. Yes, across from Aliano shopping center, and you're right, my part is still unspoiled although the northern part is already developed. I guess that's what's given me that "North Dakota" type experience here with the big snows lately.
Dsnowx53
I had 8.5" on my road several hours ago, then it snowed moderately for another hour, but I crashed and fell asleep so I never got a final measurement--was still snowing when I went to bed--albeit lightly. It's beautiful outside.
NorthShoreWx
William - looking at the radar loop, I strongly suspect LI Sound enhancement from about Smithtown east to Mattituck in the past few hours with the WNW flow. Very rare to see Sound enhancement on a wind with a westerly component, but that's what seems to be happening. The highest totals on Long Island have been coming in along the North Shore of Suffolk County - Centerport, Smithtown, Kings Park, Port Jeff, etc. http://www.rap.ucar....e=-1&duration=6 Its probably mostly synoptic with just a little extra kick from some shoreline convergence. The sound can't hurt, but as you said its very rare with a wnw wind. Delta-t (850) is about 10C, FWIW.

Snowshack
Really hate to sound like such a weenie but what a surreal scene here. Has not yet stopped snowing, picked up another 0.5 in last hour. Over 20" new on top of a pretty solid 3 or 4 in. base. Piles are about as i've seen them in the 10 years ive been in this house. Snowpack (although fractured) since 12/26. The winter is starting to take on a 95/96 feel..although for perspective we're not even halfway to that great year's totals. It is REALLY going to suck when we cycle back to the lame winters.. NorthShoreWx
The flurries we have been having just went for light to moderate (practically heavy) in an instant.
