Manny
Hopefully we can make a run at a foot and NYC at least 10 inches-- I want to keep this double digit streak going. I think we will, I in Manhattan have had no trouble with subsidence, light snow, just steady Moderate-heavy snow.
Ridingtime
In some ways I like this snow better than the Boxing blizzard. It's more peaceful and falls more softly and provided a great environment for my wife and I to take a walk in. I didn't get to have that with the blizzard
A-L-E-X
How much do u have ? 6 inches so far and coming down 1 inch per hour (estimating the rate from my measurement of 4 inches at midnight).
mikemost
Over 5" here attm. Heavy snow. The plows are having difficulty maintaining pace. Wind has kicked up a bit as well. Gusts to 25-30mph (estimated) at times. 23.5º - Nice ratios!
Bobby
Very heavy snow continuing in Port Jefferson just after 2:00 AM. Some of the lower visibilities I've ever observed in snowstorms over the last couple of hours... Real heavy band knocking on your door William. Enjoy it ! Manny
That's the 8th snowplow on my block tonight, just back and forth. Where was this on 12/26? Moderate snow still falling at a nice clip out there. Looks amazing, all quiet and Serene.

simpsonsbuff
Thanks! You should get a nice "normal" snowfall out of this... how is the season treating you thusfar? I was in New York for Boxing Day, but it was a 12 inch storm in KLEB. We got somewhere around 5? from like Thursday-Saturday last week... Classic NNE. Overall, my time here is running out (i.e. diploma), and the largest storm I've gotten here is about 13-14 inches. Missed the great 2/14/07 by a year... Hopefully, we'll get one... Either way, kinda funny I came here for Snow, but KNYC has gotten plenty more big Snowfalls than here... Though we usually get more overall (through the little stuff). Absolute Humidity
This is one freaking awesome tight, little compact storm. Iv'e been getting banded since 11pm with mostly 30db's with specs of 35db's and spaced between smaller 25db breaks.

jasonli18t
ARW has an impressive 0.50 - 0.75 liquid over much of Suffolk County from 7:00 AM this morning until 7:00 PM tonight...with good ratios, that would tack on quite a bit of additional snow... How far west does it spread?

nzucker
Jebwalk time..6 inches on the roads. Getting hammered here in Southern Westchester....banding looks to be filling in, and I think I'll break a foot easily. jm1220
Quite heavy snow again with larger flakes returning. I'm still having good feelings about this banding over NJ intensifying as it pivots NE over Long Island. Over 6" on the ground and piling up fast, 1-2"/hour. Ace thought we would be in the screw zone, with more to the west and more to the east. He told me, we'd only get 5-8 inches here.

Manny
Current Radar- http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=DIX&product=NCR&overlay=11111111&loop=yes Excellent snows coming down, heavy snow for reals! wind picking up a bit, Manhattan seems to be under some heavier bands right now. danstorm
Why is KNYC in such a great spot right now, synoptically-wise? At this point in the game, it's not about synoptics Judging by latest radar trends/mesoanalysis/rates thusfar, think the city rips for another 3 hours or so then quickly shuts off. The storm is racing but also bombing which means take your backside bands and cherish them... if you're getting what I'm getting under similar returns in SW Ct., then it's 1-2"/hr. type stuff... expect the bands to continue to pulse and then you may have a period of 3"/hr snows with that last burst in Jersey. Think we're talking 10-11" for NYC when all is said and done which is a lot higher than I figured earlier this evening... I was telling friends 10-15" for the city earlier today and figured I was in for a massive bust considering the NAM shot east... but if the Park breaks double digits, it will be the 5th time in 13 months with two of those producing 20"! Savor the incredible period we are in... you may never again see such a prolific stretch in your lifetime.

stockmanjr
Did they declare a snow emergency? They Declared a "Weather Emergency" which means that there isn't a Travel Ban nor do people have to move their cars. They can however tow anyone who is blocking the street. Also I believe Snow Emergency Routes get first priority when it comes to plowing even if an emergency isn't declared. Someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong.
