ROOSTA
How am I getting higher totals than you? Must be some serious localized stuff going on. Snow measurements will do that. I get irritated when people question snow amounts. No reason to lie. What is there to gain. It is what it is. If someone gets just .20 more liq equiv with good ratios that can equate to 6 inches. Cold Miser
What was your final? I orignally noted over 28, but went back and adjusted my middle clearing number to account for some drifting (average), down to 25.5". I don't normally like to mess with the numbers like that, but it just seemed high.

The Staffordville 29" total looks obscene to me too...Union CT (from a very reliable source) had 23" and they almost always do better than them...almost always. If in the event Staffordville beat them, it would never be by 6" of snow....that is absolutely ridiculous.

The inflated totals tend to happen in these huge events (2/06). Then to make matters worse we have snow on top of snow.

Then to make matters worse we have snow on top of snow. Yes I believe Union has 300-400 feet on them and to the northeast and a much better upslope potential in Nor easters (or lack of downslope)....much better spot for snow than Staffordville. Again in this storm, it didn't play by the rules as you can see by the CT River Valley totals....but no way a place so close by got 6" less. I could believe 2-3" less, but not 6". Making it worse, is that Union was getting hammered late in the day with that one rotting band that was clearly only fringing Staffordville. ORH_wxman
Official from Union is actually 22.7" Their biggest storm since Dec 7-8, 1996 when they got 25.3" 29" from Staffordville can look at that and wrestle with their honesty. It doesn't mean much unless you truly know you got that much.

Im thinking at least one of them should be accurate..... or do you think they all mixed old snow with new? I was wondering about some of the 30-32 inch totals from the xmas day after blizzard also, but since there's multiple totals all from the same general location, I think its quite possible that those people got 30 or just above in that storm and probably the same with this one.
