famartin
If you look at frame 4 in the tracking thread it shows the coastal low way west. Yeah, the meso's were on that westward track. Of course, it didn't amount to what they thought the precip would be...

RU848789
Just did a 2nd shoveling. Up to 5.0" as of 1:00 am here in northern Middlesex County, meaning I got 1.0" in the past hour (got 1.5" in the previous hour). However, it looked like I had another half inch on the ground by 1:20 am when I came in and it was really starting to pour down. Hoping I can get to 8-9" - looks like a few more hours of at least 1" per hour rates. Schools closed and work is delayed opening - I'll just work from home, since I don't have any major meetings. Snow is some of the prettiest snow I've ever seen - big flakes, really soft and fluffy. Surprised at people saying it's snowing more heavily than on 12/26, though - it's been heavy, but definitely not as heavy as that night, when I was getting a consistent 2" per hour with bursts of 3" per hour for many hours in a row. The rates here IMBY have definitely exceeded the rates I got from 12/26 because I was on the western fringes of the very heavy band from the 12/26 storm. I'm sure if I lived in Middlesex or Union counties I might not say that. Just did a quick walk in the heavy snow and measured 7.5" here in Metuchen (northern Middlesex Co.), as of 3:00 am, as we got about 2.5" in the past 2 hours, which is pretty good. Looks like we may only have another hour or so of good snowfall, so I'm thinking 8, maybe 9" tops, unless something odd happens. I'll take it. 92 - anyone who experienced the full fury of the Boxing Day Blizzard (definitely anyone in Middlesex/Union Counties, at least) should not be saying snowfall rates were greater in this storm, IMO, as they're not. Still a great storm, but c'mon.

RutgersWx92
Storm total here is 8.0 inches. What a great storm; I definitely liked it better than the 12/26 storm for several reasons: one because the snowfall rates were much higher here, two because I didn't get screwed over like I did with the 12/26 storm, and three because there was almost no wind which allowed the flakes to get much bigger, allowed the snow to stay on the trees, and allowed for much easier measuring. The rates were really incredible with this storm; I got 6.5 inches over the course of about four hours (from 11 pm to 3 am).

For me better than that Blizzard. Oh well time to make some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :guitar: :guitar: Maybe not. By radar it looked like we got at least an extra 30-45 minutes of snow here relative to Belle Mead. We're up to 8.5" as of 4:00 am and the snow just started lightening up, as the back edge of the good stuff appears to be just about over for us. Could eke out another 1/2" if we get some snow showers, but I think I'm ready for bed. A nice storm. Sounds like you got about 8" in 6-7 hours; maybe better than the 12" or so you got in the blizzard in maybe 12 hours, but we had a period of 6 hours where we got 16" of snow, if I recall correctly - most insane sustained rates I've ever seen, hands down. Voyager
Picked up an additional .25" after going to bed for a storm total of 4.5" here in Tamaqua. As was stated earlier it was quite the quick hitter. It started snowing at around 5:00PM, and shut down sometime after 12:30AM when I went to bed. Rough guess puts the snowfall rate at slightly better than a half inch per hour for a storm average.

WebBreaker63
There was nothing on the ground when I went to bed at 10:30pm (Sorry, thought I just might have to go to work this morning ) I was awoken at 4:15am by a backhoe plowing my street (they don't seem to use snow plows around here these days ) - unofficial 6", easy - that would mean that it snowed about an inch an hour here at Ocean County last night. Temp = 25F and wind is out of the west at 10mph - crystal clear skies - If 6" verifies that would put us at about 37" to date...

_AR_
I'm guessing I got around 4" here based on my eyeballing of the snow cover and nearby obs. Good snow cover, just wish we could get in on some of the higher amounts back this way in E PA. NE NJ and NYC are having a great winter, and it's just the beginning. Hopefully we have more on the way. Well, off to work.
